stutters when looking down at the terrain

Featured Replies

Hi,When I switch to wing views and look at the clouds or look down at the terrain I get stutters. I can't get rid of them. Is there a fix to this ?Specs: i7 980x-gtx480- 6 gb ram- 2x 300 gb raptors- w7 x64 setup up as per nick's guide. Tweaks that work a little here are: tbm 60-70/highmemfix=1ThanksVic

Edit autogen trees and buildings, try 2000 each or lower.Bjorn

As Bjorn said, you can use the Tree and Building Tweak. Try adding these lines to your [TERRAIN] section of your FSX.cfg file:TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL_3000TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=800Default tree levels are 4,500 trees and 1300 Buildings per cell. This reduction in autogen should help with little visual difference, but probably there are a number of settings in your FSX system that need to be adjusted. If you are registered at the ORBX forums you can read this thread that assembles most of the known information on the subject in one place. If I could reproduce it here on AVSIM I would, but many of the pictures and copy contributed by others would be lost. If you are interested and not registered there perhaps you might want to consider doing so.ADJUSTING AUTOGENERATED TREES AND BUILDINGS PER CELL IN FSXKind regards,

Will give it a go and report back. Thanks !Edit: I just tried this tweak and it made things worse.I removed the 2 lines from the cfg.

I gave it another go and tried changing values. It doesn't help. :(Thanks anyways,V

Sorry to hear, V.Are you using high res. clouds, like REX2 clouds, then reduce res. Are your water settings high, set to mid or low.B

Something like this is seldom one thing, but attributable, as a rule to disharmony of hardware and incorrect settings for FSX. What are you overclock settings? Can you be a bit more specific on your RAM specs and speeds, and GPU overclock?Kind regards

I second this suggestion it worked for me long ago too - had been trying to use 4096 resolution textures and once I took those out and fsx.cfg is set to 1024 no more stutters.. of course not sure you even set higher than 1024 though?

Stephen,I have this problem with my pc even "unclocked". Same kind of annoying stutters. My mem is ocz (6 gb) 3x2 1600- 7-7-7-24.No gpu oveclock.Just a regular zotac gtx 480.

I have rex and I use 1024 clouds.

Your TBM number is too high, default of 40 is best. That's what's causing the stutters. TextureMaxLoad=30 would be the number to add and tweak.

Perfect tbm is 60 here.i can't use texturemaxload because I get crashes just like almost any other bojote tweak. They do not work for me unfortunately.

Then you have some configuration and hardware issues. That would also be showing in this stutters problem.

Cloud res. lower than 1024 is still excellent quality. I'd save the higher res. for screen shots (where stutters don't show ;-) ).B
