airport chart problem

Featured Replies

Hi,I've been using the excellent airport chart gauge for years with windows XP. My new computer has windows 7 and I can't build the airport data base. I have a message saying that the data base has been succesfully completed but it also says that there are 0 airports installed and they don't show. There must be a compatibility problem with windows 7. Does anybody know how to fix it?Thank you.

Most likely a Win 7 permission issue.Try Right clicking the DBBuilder.exe file and under Properties/ Compatibility, set it to "run as adminstrator" and see if that allows it to properly build the database.
hi,Thank you David.I tried that and also as a XP compatible program, to no avail.I don't know what to do next.It is a shame because I like that program. Is there any freeware replacement program?THX
Before giving up in the chart program try one more thing -Get and run the free Registry Repair utility from the good folks at Flight1.http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryIt will ask you to browse to the location of your FSX.exe file and will record that data properly in the Windows registry. It is posible that data is incorrect or corrupted and the database program cannot "find" your FSX installation.Hope that may help.

I've had this issue with my Win7 dual-boot setup. What I have found is that I just kept hitting the button to build the data base after it reports the number of airports as 0 and eventually it "took". I don't think I did anything else, other than to run the db building program as administrator.I have UAC disabled and have given myself permissions for all the various locations of FSX-related files but thisone function just doesn't want to work on the first attempt. Try copying (do not move)the scenery.cfg file from C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator XThese are the Vista directories, but you should have no problem finding the Windows 7 directories.

There is a fix for this but you will have to dig into older posts. Be advised even when I have it working the fps drop with this AP Chart window open is very severe...never figured out why.Shez

hi,Thank you guys.I think I will give up because when I restarted my computer after my several attempts at making airport chart work, windows seven would not launh at all :( . Automatic repair failed to fix the problem. :( I had to launch a restoration at an earlier date. I don't know if it was me or the program who were to blame but now I am reluctant to try anything else. :(
