April 22, 201115 yr Hi! i have just bought Wilco Airbus Evolution 2, but i have a problem, i cant get the airbus to fly managed speed, as soon as i press managed speed it wants to slow down to 138 kts...not fun to fly 1200 nm at 138 kts;-)Anybode have any pointers?;-)/Niklas Eriksson Niklas Eriksson
April 22, 201115 yr Author When i press the perf button i end up in Takeoff mode-page yes:(Can i force it to go to another mode? if i press "next phase" i see the next page but when i press the perf button again i come back to take off,. Niklas Eriksson
April 22, 201115 yr You would have to set up the MCDU in full (especially the performance pages) to allow the plane all managed modes. It should then aim for e. g. 250 below 10000 and for a nice climb and later cruise speed, according to your aircraft weight, without further interaction.Don't want to sound rude, but the manual of the Wilcos explains the MCDU setup and gives you some examples to work with, step by step. Maybe worth a read?
April 22, 201115 yr Author no worries, you´re not rude.i have been flying different airbus models... and im pretty certain that i have filled in the fmc correctly...But now for some strange reason it is stuck in the take off phase... (When i change the V2 speed, the managed speed changes as well"... Niklas Eriksson
April 22, 201115 yr yeah this has happened to me before. I couldn't find a way to 'move it' from TO config to CRZ or whatever. My walkaround is that before every flight, after setting de FMGC, i turn off the FD switch and then back on. This way I get CLB and NAV (i think) indicators on the PFD.Hope it helps.
May 2, 201115 yr You need to move the throttle levers back to the CL detent after takeoff and clean up on schedule. Cruise mode should be selected automatically at the top of your climb assuming that you have selected managed mode on the FCU on glare shield. You do this by pressing the buttons on the FCU to three dashes for speed and heading. ou wont get three dashes on the altitude dis[lay but you need to push the button to select managed mode.. Pull the buttons out if you wnat commanded mode i.e. you wnat the airbus to change Fligh level etc.Unfortunltely managed descent doesn't work on the Wilco - it never has - and it is a major bone of contention in the flighsim community. Basically it is its a flaw in the product which has never been addressed. If you want to land the bird you have to control descent and speed manually - totally unlike a real airbus !If you want to fly an Airbus as it is supposed to be flown you will have to wait for FlightSim Labs to release their Airbus Pro model. wingsoffire
June 9, 201114 yr "If you want to fly an Airbus as it is supposed to be flown you will have to wait for FlightSim Labs to release their Airbus Pro model."With respect, its a bit premature to make such a sweeping statement, unless of course you are the developer and have exhaustively tested the product.Wilco promised and failed, AirlinerXP disappeared after a lot of build-up, AirSimmer made fools of themselves, AirbusX is "lite", etc etc....It would be great to have a "real" 'Bus and I hope youre right, but lets wait and see, rather than getting everybodys hopes up.

June 10, 201114 yr The big disappointment for me and I suspect many thousands of others is that there will probably never be a "proper" Airbus for FS9.A few years back I was lucky enough to have been able to afford a super-pc for FS9 and ran the hungriest addons with everything maxxed, but retirement and the resulting "all money out/no money in" means that as my hardware progressively fails I am obliged to maintain my Ferrari with Fiat parts, and I will never be able to build a credible FSX rig. This constant downgrading also means that pc performance - and my enjoyment - progressively lessens - which is a shame. (Four years ago I left Euroland for S.America - thinking that my $ would last longer, but today this country is one of the four fastest-growing economies and prices equal Europe and pretty much everything imported carries a 60% tax. Where that money goes is a mystery - certainly not on schools, hospitals, public safety etc. Of course, this booming economy has also affected our politicians, and their basic necessities (rentboys, Peruvian Marching Powder, beachfront mansions and Porsche Cayenne) have also shot up in price, but even so 60% looks like daylight robbery to me.)So Im going to ask the Avsim community a favour: if FSL or whoever do bring a real Airbus into the game will you please keep quiet about it, otherwise I will be tearing out what little hair remains on my sad old head with envy.Regards to you all.
June 10, 201114 yr Today's expensive FSX rig is next year's old news; don't imagine for one second that you will never be able to afford a decent FSX rig. I paid a lot of money for my laptop a couple of years back, I'd be lucky to get 50 quid for it now.Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
June 10, 201114 yr What? A laptop is almost non upgradeable except for adding ram and a new hard drive. Build your own i7 computer and it will last another 2-3 years without any upgrades.
