FSX FPS Limiters

Featured Replies

Evening,Over these forums I have stumbled upon some topics that make reference to FSX FPS External Limiters. What are these limiters?, do you need an external program for them? do you have to tweak your FSX cfg file? have you found many advantages or disadvantages?System Specs in sig.Have a great day!

AFAIK the patch is no longer available, all of the previous download links are dead. Just a lucky few have it.

Works for some who have their FSX framerates set to unlimited. In my case is gave me horrible frame rates and made things worse so I got rid of it.Mark.

If I have FSX frames locked to 30 with monitor refresh of 60 I get jerky motion when banking. It improves slightly setting frames to unlimited but still horrible.Having FSX set to unlimited and running the limiter at 30fps it is very smooth so for me its a winner :(

As with all the other tweaks and ideas related to FSX, it works for some and doesn't for others. I tried the external limiter (external locked at 30 with internal set to unlimited), but using only the internal FSX limiter (locked at 30) worked much better on my system. Needless to say, I got rid of the external limiter.Regards, Mike Mann

+1My benchmarks and testing with and without the external fps limiter and internal fps limiter indicated that I could use the FSX internal limiter with the same result (smooth and stutter free flights with Poolsize=90000000). Tests performed by Nick N and some other simmers, that I consider as experts, indicate that the use of the external limiter have no advantage compared to the internal limiter.
