Nor are they reading this poll or care about the results!

HelloMs already know how many 64bit OS users are out there, by the time MS Flight is released Windows 8 will be here in a 64bit version only and 32bit on the desktop will be historyLike it or not 32bit is on the way out and MS fully know this.

MS also knows how many 32bit OS are still being used and they know not to require a new OS purchase just to play a game and they know their target market.

Of course not, this is only a sample, but the 92% would!Cheers,- jahman.

HelloIn two years time how many will be running 32bit OS's, that is what MS will be targeting64bit software to help sell their new 64bit OS and the CPU makers 64bit processors.MS Flight will not run on XP at all due to the Direct X requirements so that takes a huge number of 32bit OS's out of the equation.Everybody who upgraded to Windows 7 by purchasing from MS already has both 32 and 64bit disks so no need for a purchase.

They are coding Flight right now, not 2 years from now. Whether or not Windows 7 comes in both versions doesn't enter into the equation, only which version is being used. Why do you think hardware drivers are still to this day being released for XP 32 bit, Vista 32 bit and Win 7 32 bit? Becauuse the MAJORITY of computers are still being run under 32 bit OS and Microsoft knows this.

HelloThey are coding MS Flight now but by the time it is actually released there will be very few 32bit systems around.I do not know anybody still running 32bit windows, the Poll here seems to indicate that here at Avsimthe overwhelming MAJORITY have left 32bit behindThis article written 2 years ago points to the very quick uptake of 64bit windows even back then.http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2008/07/microsoft-number-of-64-bit-vista-pcs-doubled-in-three-months.arsMS may well release both 32bit and 64bit versions of Flight! but make no mistake, legacy 32bit users are not on their roadmap going forward.

We will see!

92% of a sample size of less than 100 (currently) won't stagger anyone. In reality, polls in these forums are statistically meaningless.

HelloSo we can take it from your solid denial of those poll results that you and Jim are among the six that are still on 32bit.Here's hoping there is a 32bit Windows 8 for you guys, but I would not bet on it at this point in OS developement. And if the new OS is 64bit only then you can be sure that MS Flight will have a 64bit option.I might just put this poll out in the FSX forum where there is more traffic, just to see if the numbers scale accordingly.

MS learned from the Vista---FSX farce, never to tie a game release to an OS release ever again.Do this: instead of posting this in the FSX forum, go to a forum of casual gamers and see what they are using. Or head over to Guru.com and browse through the driver downloads and notice how many 32 bit downloads are still taking place, both for ATI and Nvidia cards. Yes, I just did and the numbers shocked even me as to how many 32 bit drivers, even the most current drivers, are still being downloaded.

Hello JimThose folk that are D/L the 32bit drivers now will have binned that hardware a year to eighteen months from now.Thats how it works, you cannot stand in the way of progress.MS , Intel and AMD need compelling products to attract buyers, none of those three are going to tell you that what you have now is good enough so no need to upgrade.Christmas time 2011 they all need a buzzword to convince shoppers to buy the latest PC/OS instead of a tablet running on an ARM processor with a Google OS.64 sounds bigger than 32 and bigger numbers always sell to the man in the street.

Why was Win 7 32 bit then?

HelloIt was 64bit with a free 32bit disk thrown in.How many folk that bought W7 from MS actually installed the 32bit version, I think the Poll gives a clue.
