I couldn't agree more with the reviewer's verdict regarding the UK2000 VFR Airfields packages. However, I think it's worth pointing out that using them with the rubbish default scenery is a MASSIVE waste of their potential. If you really want to see them at their best, then you need to install all three volumes of Horizon's Generation X photographic scenery (Version 3 is released on June 1). The UK2000 VFR Airfields have been designed to blend seamlessly with the Horizon scenery, and that is a VAST improvement over the default scenery. If you want it to look even better, then installing all three volumes of Treescapes UK (by Earth Simulations) would be the next step. Once again, these custom autogen trees have been designed to blend perfectly with the Horizon scenery and the UK2000 VFR Airfields.The Horizon photo scenery/UK2000 VFR Airfields/Treescapes UK combination is (in my opinion) the only sensible option with respect to using the UK2000 VFR Airfields packages. Anything else is a waste.

Not only are the default airfields presented correctly for pilot traffic both on the ground and approach; they also add immersion depth and really stand out nicely within the default FSX terrain-at least to my eyes. VFR pilots especially will notice a HUGE difference from the stock small aerodromes that I have a terrible time seeing-in some cases the only hint a location is actually an airfield is the little fuel pump stashed randomly in the dirt or having to resort to the GPS to confirm that the little patch of non-descript landclass is actually the right place to land!As mentioned in the piece I really think the packages are a terrific value for money for any FSX user. I find it similar in intent and coverage scope to its only X-Plane payware counterpart (Tom Curtis PNW/Canadian Rockies/Inside Passage) and I would presume the ORBX collections that remake either the PNW or Australia regions on such a grand scale....something I am adding to my FSX installation this month with the sale going on :Party:.While I am sure the photoscenery folks get a serious enhancement the packages are definitely not aimed solely at them.In any event thank you for taking the time to read and comment on the piece.Oh and as a final small correction to Robert's introduction on the headline-I am actually an American living here in the UK...hence my sneaking in a couple of the more gentle "Little Britain" quotes....Vicky Pollard words of wisdom probably wouldn't fly here so to speak.Ok have one:Social worker: All I want to know Vicky is where is your baby? There are 3 XP-related pieces coming shortly that I am aware of :Whistle:. After getting through transatlantic family house guests, a failed HDD (the cause and solution for I will mention in one of the reviews as HDD failures are pretty uncommon), and an upsurge in summertime mayhem related to my day job (emergency services)......I am pleased to report that once again I am back on track.The Q400 is an aircraft on my personal radar. The CRJ-excellent as it seems to be-is not mainly due to the currently unresolved XUIPC issues and the fact my personal preference and bias is towards prop aircraft. I stick with what I know and am comfortable with. Jets bore me to tears-probably related to spending a third of my working life sat in long-haul cattle class....moooooooo!CheersTedp.s.
