FSW Highest Clouds Performance v2 Available Now

Recommended Posts

Hi, In this version 2, The cirrus clouds have been fixed to blend near mountain and remove the hard edge. the first pic is the default and the other one is the new one. This files contains the highest clouds performance available for Fs 2004 with the the fix included with 32bit or DXT3 format.I have seen some user thinking this was the FOG clouds in fs2004 which is not. Real Life Fog - is basically stratus clouds which lower to the ground. When the fog "lifts," it rises from the surface as a deck of stratus clouds. They are realistic in fs2004, the clouds blend to the mountain. The file to download is: Highest Performance clouds v2 (1.17MB)http://fsw.simflight.com/FSWFs2k4fix.html http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51889.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51887.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/51888.jpg

Chris,Great news. Looks great.Might you take a quick glance at the v2.0 file to be sure that it contains the newer versions of your Cirrus clouds? (Any since 12/1/2003.) (Hope I'm wrong here.)Thanks,Mike

Are you on dialup perchance? Page is ok, it just takes ages to load. And yes, it needs to install Macromedia Flash Player - v.7, if I remember correctly. I haven't tried again after the Player was installed so, as others have suggested, that's undoubtedly the explanation.Mike

Howdy,Thanks. Already have 8.5.1 loaded (came pre-loaded on my new rig). Page still refuses to load ... not even any connectivity indications (have sat watching it for the past 15 minutes). Suppose will just have to wait for it to appear in the Library.

Hi Chris:Let me get this straight - I have NOT installed any of your previous cloud offerings, so; Do I just download and install Highest Performance clouds v2 (1.17MB) and that's it, or,Do I download 4.5MB file and install it THEN install the 1.17MB file? Thanks Chris,Don Schaaf

Chriss:I have already installed the original High Clouds you made to solve some of the problems experienced when flying around Clouds.Aside from beeter Quality what is the difference of Vol 2 clouds and the old one.Can I installed it on top of the old one , or do I have to delete the old one first?Your help would be appreciated.Edmundo Cardenas

Hi Chris,I'm using your Highest Performance clouds v1 which seem to date from december 1. Now I downloaded Highest Performance clouds v2 and these files also seem to date december 1. Only some documentation and screenshots date from december 7. So what's the change, or do I miss something.Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. Hi, There was two files not available in the earlier pack, be aware about date, If I create stuff dated on december 1 or earlier and I re upload after, this is not mean there is no change, I have stuff from july/september 03 :-wave"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick back harder and forget about the time and date, enjoy flying"ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

These clouds are beautiful! I have my settings on the clouds maxed and hardly seem to take a hit on FPS! Thank you.

Hi Chris,Which format do you think "looks" better? I have a pretty fast machine - so I planned on using the 32-bit format. However, the readme seems to imply that the compressed DXT3 clouds are higher-res. Could you clear this up?Thanks for all the hard work,Marc

Hi, use the cumulus from DXT3 format, and cirrus from 32 bits. The 32 bits cumulus in this version, I have reduced the resolution compare to the dxt3, and for those who don't want to enable render to texture. But normaly in all situation 32 bits are the best, be aware this pack is for increasing frame rate and fix, not really visual, the visual improvement will be with fs sky world 2004 total new environment.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Chris,Thanks for the RAPID response - one more question. Since my main interest is removing the hard edge around mountains, I want to use the 32-bit cirrus replacements right now (I'll wait on SkyWorld for cumulus). Should I use both your DXT3 and 32-bit formats to replace the defaults or JUST the 32-bit textures? Put simply, will I be placing 14 files or 5 files in the texture folder? Thanks again,Marc

O.K. Chris. Thanks for your help. I understand this will not change the visibility artifacts... good to know. I'm looking forward to Skyworld - I'm sure it will knock our socks off! It amazes me how much you know about Flightsim's weather rendering - especially without an SDK. You Da Man!See Ya,Marc
