May 29, 201115 yr What difference would it have made if more notice had been given? From the way I been brought up.. a Huge difference I would say. By having had the decency to let people know in advance is common practice in my business world where I operate if terms are about to change. Others expect it from me and so I also expect that from others. that way we know in advance where we stand with each other and even if our paths split we do it with respect for each other at least.. but that is the part you and dave do not seem to understand. I am glad you do not do business with me.. even though this a still a game when anyone want me to part my money for them, they should do that in such a way that I dont feel robbed.. and when you go into "payware" it's a different ballgame all together, where certain rules are nothing but "common decency" to prospective buyers.

In fact people will even start hating you.Nah I dont think people is starting to "hate" Dave. That is a very strong statement you made. We might not agree with his operating methods, but I am for sure that nobody hating him for that.. I would rather say we are a bit dissapointed in the way he operate. Afterall it was many of us spending lots of times testing this for him and gave him lots of feedback to get it working to such extend that he can actually charge money for it.. and believe me I think it is awesome for him and I hope he make a bundle for his effort he did put in and his ingenuity to create this, but maybe a little notice that it is going to happen would have been appropriate, then to one day wake up and found shrewedly ammended program that force you to pay. maybe if the developer took time to speak to those that helped him testing it, beforehand, it would not have been such a shock.. again "common decency" goes a LONG way in my books..!
May 29, 201115 yr I think the dev has already said he's learned something from the reaction to the method adopted, so what's to add? He's certainly entitled to a fee for his work.I hope he'll listen to some of the comments here about the subscription model, though - that has put me right off. I've uninstalled OC, about to try the other freeware one mentioned above. If OC becomes a "pay once" product, I'll look again, since I've enjoyed using it. Paul Skol

Open Clouds was free now it isn't. That key fact wouldn't have changed. This isn't a business world. The developer created Open Clouds and gave it, yes gave it, to us. We had free use of it. Now the developer is charging for it there are abusive references to common decency, bad, evil, not good business or fellow simmer practice, unacceptable, cunningness , forcing.Perhaps he should just have closed it down?
