Airbus 321 has a mind of it's own--what am I doing wrong?

Featured Replies

I can take off ok (from Heathrow), using VC. Everything is fine as I take off, but after a few minutes of flying, I'll turn around and head back to the airport. At various points during that manuever, the engines decide to go into auto-throttle mode. I've tried every which way to stop this from happening and don't know what else to do. This doesn't happen with the other heavies I fly. Anyone?

Is this the stock or aerosoft or wilco version etc??In the aerosoft version which has the systems modelled in a bit more depth you essentially fly in autothrottle from start to finish as this is the nature of the plane. I.e. Automated systems. You can deselect autothrottle on the mcp.The pmdg md11 will go into autothrottle when speeds drop as it protects the plane from stalling. Someone may be able to give you a more precise answerTom

Hi Tom--it's the 321 that comes with FSX. I've flown it more times than I can count and every time it is airborne for a bit, it decides to take over. I've tried "Z", and a bunch of other shortcut keys to disengage autothrottle, etc. This doesn't happen to me in the other planes that come with FSX (at least not any of the ones I've used, which is most of the heavies and the corporate jets).

Scarebuses all have a mind of their own, thats why real pilots fly Boeings :(

If you press the three buttons on the overhead under FLT CTL you will have more conrtoll over the Airbus. By doing so you will also get back the use of you trim.Jim

thanks Jim. I hadn't noticed those before. on the flight I just tried (default location, rather than flying out of London for a few minutes) the were blank. I clicked them all OFF. I presume the switches you are referring to are the ones I took a screen shot of...EDIT: I went back to London, took off in the 321 (without touching any cockpit switches), raised flaps and LG, flew for a few minutes, slowed down a bit and then pitched the nose up--the throttle automatically increased. I turned the three switches you mentioned to OFF and now I have complete control! Thank you! I'd never have found those switches without your help.
