iFly 737 vs PMDG JS41

Featured Replies

I'm trying to decide between the two, which has better frame rates?thanks

Ciao!

I think that could well be is a very system related thing. On my system, the iFly does much better than the J41, with all features enabled. The MD11 performs better than the J41 here and the iFly is slightly better than the MD11. Maybe that gives a relative view on the experienced things on my side. One actually has to test the current iFly on his system since you have to check if you're affected (much) by that mouse in the VC bug thingy. If that brings down the fps severely for you, all nice fps numbers before are obsolete of course.I'm not losing much there, so I'm happy.

on my system,,,they have very similar fps but i only have a core2duo 8400 running at 3.46,,,,,i decent piece of advise has gotta be try the ifly 737,,,it comes with flight 1`s 30 day money back if not happy....cant loose there can uAndy

On that system, there's no need to worry about both planes and their fps. The J41 may reduce the fps some more as the iFly does, but they both will end up nicely if you're not affected by any bug.As they are both great planes, you just have to decide which one will come first, as I would recommend both. Short routes may be more realistic with the J41 though, getting into "prop only" places and stuff. She's way smaller and lighter than the -600.If the routes get longer, those rather slow climb and cruise speeds of the J41 may annoy you though.Climbing out at 170 kts is really slow and takes some time when you need some ice protection for example. Now I don't know about the rw J41 route profiles, but I think, when compared to the -600, she will see her competitor more than once since it is so much faster.Reminds me of that Concorde to 747 comparison run over the Atlantic.

thanks for that, that is very helpful.mmmmmm... I have a lot more experience/time on the 737NG - being that I used to have the old DF 737-400 and then the PMDG 737NG for FS9..etc, etc... I fly in the ORBX scenery areas exclusively and I'm thinking the JS41 would be more suitable for where I fly and where I like to fly into as well.. ... as of writing this.. I took the plunge and just bought the JS41... here we go..

Ciao!

Good buy! Get the Fs2Crew stuff there too. The voice version really is a treat, on both planes. And for the fps on the J41, you can set the refresh rate of the FO's instruments down a bit, this will help and you won't notice the difference in the VC.

I want to first learn to fly it, then maybe I'll ad the FS2Crew to it..one step at a time,.for the past several years I've done nothing but GA type of flying and lately just been puttering around in ultralights. so this will be a BIG change

Ciao!

The JS41 is an extreme performance hog. On my 4ghz I7 950 system w/ GTX 470 I have to set the displays resolution to medium and turn off the FO's displays completely, and turn the update rate on PIC's displays down to 28% to get good performance (in my opinion). In the most basic, low overhead scenery in FSX (where in other planes I might be getting 50+fps, including the PMDG MD-11) in the JS41 it's 30fps or so at the most. That being said it's totally worth it :D Just be warned you may be in for some performance tweaking on lower end systems.
