VoxATC version?

Featured Replies

This is why I purchased right off the VoxATC website, its surprising to me that Avsimwould do this to people, its not going to help them in the long term. I originally owned5 and upgraded to 6, its worth making sure you get the latest.

Yes, in hindsight it is a good idea to buy it from voxatc.com, but who would have known that the shop did not sell the newest product?I probably would not have upgraded either if I hadn't been helped, and I would have been cheated out of using a great product. In my opinion its the shops fault. Have you tried to contact avsim? They must be able to contact the shop since they let the shop use the name.I was close to do it, but then Tegwyn helped me out, so I didn't need to anymore. Edit:I have now tried to write a post here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/347799-problems-with-avsim-shop/Helge

I wish I can send it back to the Avsim store and get my $$$ back but I doubt that will happened. Hey, I don't mind a 15 to 20 dollar upgrade, but $55-60! That's crazy $$ for an upgrade! The software is a good don't get me wrong but IMO, it is no way worth that much to upgrade. Oh well, more money down the drain and thrown away on Flight Sim software! It's not the first time. This hobby is getting way too expensive...I guess In away Tegwyn is right, My fault for trusting the store. My fault for not doing my homework before the purchase. peace!
I also bought mine from Avsim, but I knew it was v5. I was okay with that. It was a low price, and I wanted to get something affordable that I could try out. I knew that my personal schedule would not allow me to really try out the v6 demo. I have no regrets of getting v5. Yes, the upgrade is expensive, however, the software itself normally sells around $75-$80. The upgrade is close to the difference in what you paid at Avsim. From what I can see, the cost is definitely worth it. I'd do it now, but I need to wait a little on finances. And I may decide to order the actual v6 DVD anyway so I can get the UK Enhancement. As you said, this hobby can get expensive. But it's only as expensive as you want it to be. What I like is that I can build it up as I go. Eventually, I wouldn't mind having some flight controls and stuff. I'll probably be sticking with FSX for a long while, unless MS Flight is completely revolutionary. FSX looks pretty good with some really nice add-ons, from what I've seen.

Thanks for the link, much appreciate it. However, I’m not going to pursue the store to return the product even though they should have made it clear on the site that it was an old version and not eligible for a free upgrade. I don’t think it is their fault entirely. I should have done my due diligence prior to pressing the button and ordering it. I was going by a couple of reviews that praised it like the second coming of *******.The one thing that disappoints me the most was the developer's condescending attitude towards me in his emails that really turn me off. It was no way to treat a new customer of a software I didn’t really know about until recently by word of mouth from someone trying it and potential purchaser. Those emails told me all I needed to know about future investment with this guy (Tegwyn) I think he really needs to learn a lesson in customer service and get down from his Royal highness perch thinking his software is made of gold. Anyway, I’ve been testing the software a little, albeit, the 5.63 version, and I have to admit, the recognition part is pretty good compare to other recognition programs I’ve tried. So he programed that part very well. It knows about 98 percent when I talk back to it. However, the rest of the program is a buggy mess. It keeps cutting off and on in mid flight, there is no sense of immersion interacting with the controllers, the voices sounds like crap, even with the paid ones like Ivona and ATT, they don’t pronounce the names of Airline words correctly most of the time, everyone know about the AI interaction which is horrible and buggy with UT2, No AI planes to be seen when in the air, etc I can go on but I’m not through testing it fully. It is not worth the $80 USA he’s asking for it which is ridicules and greedy! Maybe he want to retire in the South of France one day!..lol Good Luck buddy! No, this VoxAtc package is not even ready for prime-time. It needs more time in the oven and he’s asking potential customer to give him up front money by charging double the price. Well Tegwyn, you’re not going to sucker me into more $$$ Sir Tegwyn. You’re retirement to the South of France might have to wait a little longer!..lolpeace

Have you tried the V6 Demo? Supposedly a lot of issues were fixed and work better. I'm curious of what you think of that version. I haven't tried it myself, because I don't really have the time I'd like to invest for the 7 day demo. My real life schedule just isn't that flexible. $80 is a lot. Over $100 is a lot too, especially for the DVD/UK Enhancement version. The price isn't because of greed, though. It has those AT&T voices included with the DVD package which is where most of the price is coming from. I agree that the voices mispronounce stuff. One thing that annoys me is "read back correct" which sounds like "red back correct". Maybe some internal "spelling changes" will make the Text to Speech work better. Spelling it "reed", for example.
