July 5, 201114 yr I am in the process of adding some AI aircraft into FSX and I would like to edit parking codes at airports to add a little more realism. I understand that Airport Design Editor can do this, among other things. Can I use ADE without installing the FSX SDK? I won't use the SDK for anything and would prefer to just avoid it, if possible. Is there another program that allows me to edit parking codes at airports? Thanks for any info.Scott Scott
July 5, 201114 yr I can't speak for ADE specifically, since I haven't used it, but most 3rd party content creation tools create output files that are in turn used as input to one or more of the tools in the SDK. It's the SDK tools which create the final FSX Compatible format files.Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
July 5, 201114 yr Moderator ADE does require the FSX SDK installed, or at the very least the compiler xtomdl.exe available for it to use.AFCAD2 has it's own compiler, but since it was designed for FS9 isn't nearly as powerful as ADE.The only airport editor I know about that is both made for FSX and doesn't require the SDK is the one available from Flight1... July 6, 201114 yr It will also require that the SDK you have installed is the correct version to match your FSX version... i.e FSX SP1 - you need the SDK for SP1, same with SP2 - you need the SDK for SP2. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
July 6, 201114 yr Payware AFX does not use the sdk, in particular bglcomp that the freeware alternatives like ADE use. And if you do install the sdk, you also get access to AI traffictoolbox among other things.scott s..
