Ident tones driving me nuts!

Featured Replies

Three days in and I've just about got FSX setup to my liking after finally migrating from fs9. Got one problem that I can't figure out and it's driving me to distraction! It sems that in every aircraft, both stock and payware, the radio identifier tones keep playing all over the place. I've made sure I'm not tuned to any ILS, in payware aircraft I've set the tone knobs to off, but the keep coming back on all by themselves. The only aircraft that isn't affected is the PMDG 744, and I believe this because it has a radio system that's fully independent of the FSX one. I've looked through every option possible in FSX to try and see if there's somewhere it can be turned off, as well has having a scout through the cfg. Nothing! An internet cookie for anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Do the default key commands Ctrl-1 to 4 or 5 help you there?Ctrl-1 should be the Nav1 identifier tone toggle and so on. 3 is ADF1 and 5 should be the marker sound. If you're good, you can form some song. Just sayin'. :(

If this doesn't work then then you may have been bitten by the "unsaved parameters" issue that was also apparent in FS9. Try this to fix the issue:.Load the FSX default flight and land the Death Dart (aircreation 582) at the airport in front of you. Swithc off the engine and power..Now select the aircraft of your choice and load it replacing the Death Dart..Take your new aircraft to the airfield of your choice and save the flight as whatever you like..Now go and fly and observe if the ident tones are still apparent.Just a punt but worth a try if you are at the hair pulling stage. PS The cookie will spoil in the post so you can eat it! :(

Easier still. Load the C172, turn OFF all idents using the audio panel. Save as "default flight." Problem solved.
