July 13, 201114 yr Hi, I was watching the Customize on the Fly... video. And I thought, is it now maybe possible to put pdf documents on the yoke to read STAR/SIDS? The pdf can maybe be zoomed up a bit with a click and have a designated are space to not conceal other instruments. You choose which pdf from your computer/folder. You can do it before flight or during. You can have browse button activated somewhere on the yoke? Maybe the yellow checklist knob? You may store maybe 10pdfs there and scroll between them with mouse wheel?I dont know if it is possible and relatively simple but while in VC it certainly may help to set up everything...Have a nice day everyone. July 13, 201114 yr Commercial Member There's no way to display PDF files inside the sim as a texture - they'd have to be graphics files. Not something we're going to do, sorry. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 14, 201114 yr I suppose the only way is going to be to have some FS Commander type system with an additional 2D popup window. I have to admit to finding it easier with the respective chart on my second desktopAndrew Andrew Entwistle

That's a marvellous idea. If not within the yoke slot, having the possibility to read charts pdf is IMO mandatory, just like every real pilot in every real flight.
July 14, 201114 yr So, if I get this right regarding your comment Ryan: If one has a graphical picture of whatever you would want to place on the yoke, can a optimistic painter do such a thing? I.e. can you change the graphics files on the yoke? Lukas "TIN TIN -=9th Shrek=-" Mathijsen
July 14, 201114 yr I thought the place for SID STAR charts would be the "clip board" bottom of the window? (Captain's left window at bottom)I think CS made it in one of there aircraft you could place a jpg of what ever SID STAR you wanted in that place. So if PMDG placed a image there that we could change that might be the best we could hope for? July 14, 201114 yr I guess the issue is changing the graphic in sim without having to reload the entire aircraft. The PDF would need to be converted into the necessary format as well. It would possibly entail a further gauge. Not that I would know exactly how to do this, I am just an end-user in this context. No doubt, it would be a nifty feature, but I prefer to use the real world eurocontrol database on my second desktop than having to download and convert, just so I can have the map in sim. I can see how it might be fun to have, but I feel the work necessary compared to the return on investment as being too great. It is a function I have not missed on any one addon yet. July 14, 201114 yr I'm sorry to be Capt. Obvious, but what's better than having printed plates in front of you? Ya' could go to a local FBO and pick some up for 5 bucks! FBO's like Landmark have great selections at least of the US. I use out of date ones the FBO throws out for some of my sim flying into states I rarely frequent. The local FBO throws them away one huge box at a time so they're FREE.Maybe I'm missing the point though? :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
