FSX on a P4, I don't think your system will be able to run FSX. Your system is extremely outdated. Consider building a new system that can handle today's apps and games, because the one you have is quite antiquated. If you are going to get a new vid card get an nVidia 460 or something comparable. Though you will need a PCI-E slot. Does your computer have one?

sadly, even a new graphics adapter won't make a big difference. you MIGHT get a plain FSX installation running ok, but as soon as modern payware aircraft gets added to the mix, it will go downhill. with the high res texturing and additional system simulation they put more load on your system compared to the default aircraft. you won't come anywhere near the performance you have with FS9 on that system.i am using a dualcore amd 5600+ with 4gb and an nvidia 512mb 9800gtx+ graphicscard (which is pretty much outdated too) and right on the lower end of the chain, where you are still able to enjoy flying, but only if you carefully control the enivornment. i have to tweak and chose scenery and aircraft wisely (watching how much the graphics memory footprint is...) and flying mostly in rural areas without much buildings. :)personally, with that system, i would rather stay with FS9 a bit longer and see if you can manage to upgrade your computer as a whole in the near future, i think that in the end it would guarantee much more enjoyment out of FSX

No.. When you build a new system ( build it yourself, it's easy, cheaper and better) go with a 2500K or 2600K OC it to 4.5 or so.. I have got a asus p867 board.. but there is other good choices too. 4-8 gigs of ram ( 1.5 volt ram is best for sandy bridge) the 560TI and 570 cards are a good bet.. Get a good power supply too.. I went with a corsair ax750 and you need a good cooler too. I have a corsair A70 on my 2500k and it keeps the temps decent.. If you decide too do this consult the hardware forum before you buy anything.
