How do you raise the eyepoint to see over a 2d panel?

Featured Replies

How can you raise the eyepoint or view to permanently look over a 2d panel. I can raise the seat to look over the panel by pressing Ctrl and Q, but when I look out the side window views, it goes back to original view in the front panel view. I use to know the way to do it, but have since forgotten. Any help would be appreciated. czweig

Correct me if I am wrong - but I don't believe you can change the viewpoint in 2D Mode (that is unless using a third party software to modify the original BMP files and templates).

The (shift)/Control-Q is what is described in the documentation but if you are comfortable with changing the Cameras.cfg file you CAN adjust the operation of the 2D Camera to something more comfortable. If you edit the parameters in Camera Definition.001: PanPbhAdjust = OrdinalPanPbhReturn = True to read PanPbhAdjust = SwivelPanPbhReturn = False and also add the following lines: PitchPanRate=8PanAcceleratorTime=0 you will be able to tilt the view down using the tophat smoothly. The pan rate of 8°/sec will bring the Piper Cub view down to the runway in about 3 seconds; you can make it faster or slower if you want. Making the 2D pan-able also lets you use the mouse-look feature as well, if you prefer. And the Ctrl-Q still works, so you can have it all! The panaccelerator value of 0 provides for the camera to pan at the specified speed immediately instead of that slow-starting mush that was the default operation. You can even leave the PanPbhAdjust/Return lines alone and just add the rate and accelerator lines and continue to use controlQ and it will be immediate and at the fixed rate you select. As always, backup any/all files before editing. Regards, Bob

You can also change the view direction (up/down) in the panel.cfg file [VIEWS]VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.500, 0.000, 0.000 The first parameter is the viewing angle.

Something else to consider is to copy Camera.001 to create a new one and then make your edits. Give it a new number/GUID/name and edit HotKeySelect= so it is only on the camera version you want tied to the F10 hot key. scott s..
