July 31, 201114 yr Does anyone have this card for multi monitor set up?............. Gigabyte Eyefinity HD6970, I believe you can use it as a normal one monitor set-up or expand across three or four monitors with this card much like having the Matrox TripleGo Digital installed. Question is "how does it stand up to GTX570 or 580. Would the Nvidia 570 -580 prove to be superior and better option, just install a Matrox TriplGo to expand across three monitors. Not sure what other cards have the Eyefinity capability? Sorry PMDG this should have been in the hardware forum, my apologies. July 31, 201114 yr Pretty much any ATI card will do Eyefinity these days. NVidia is far superior for FSX, though if you play any other games, I would recommend ATI. Having used both, I'm really unimpressed with NVidia. Unfortunately because of FSX's outdated programming, it doesn't function well with ATI's current architecture. We'll see what Flight brings us.

July 31, 201114 yr Author Thanks guys for the information. See the HD6970 still has just two DVI ports and I think what they term a display port. Does that mean you require suitable monitors to connect say three screens? Two using the two DVI port and a third connected via the Display port which looks like USB style connection to me, only from pics on the Gigabyte site? Just how do you connect the three montiors to HD6970? July 31, 201114 yr The HD6970 is ATI's GTX570 counterpart in terms of performance, so no slouch! It may struggle in clouds, but for a triple monitor setup it's an option to consider considering you would need two GTX570 or one GTX570 + TripleHeadToGo to get the same with NVidia
July 31, 201114 yr If you go with the Matrox (which in my opinion is outdated technology) make sure it can run your monitors in their native resolution!I have a 5870 and run a 3 display Eyefinity setup. Only for the AA setting, I had to disable it in FSX and set 2x Wide-tent in the CCC. Otherwise, using "major thunderstorm" for weather cuts the FPS in half. Bert Van Bulck
