August 1, 201114 yr How will the FPS be for the NGX? 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ATI Radeon HD 5750 (1 GB VRAM) Windows 7 (64bit) Thanks! -Sam Cordell (I'm so excited for the NGX!!!) Best Regards, Sam Cordell www.airplane-times.com
August 1, 201114 yr Really, why in the name of earth do people with i7's ask this question over and over? You got one of the best CPU's available, it'll run it just fine... Regards, Renzo Marcus
August 1, 201114 yr Author Really, why in the name of earth do people with i7's ask this question over and over? You got one of the best CPU's available, it'll run it just fine... Well, its an iMac, so I cant upgrade the video card. That is why I was worried and asked about my specs. Thanks for the quick response! Best Regards, Sam Cordell www.airplane-times.com
August 1, 201114 yr Well, in that case it depends on how you run it. If you run Macintosh and Windows at the same time, then it'll probably by laggy. If you run Windows alone, it should run fine. Regards, Renzo Marcus

August 1, 201114 yr Then it should run alright, I don't know how it works with a Mac, but if it is still possible with a Mac, try to overclock it to 3.5GHz orso. Regards, Renzo Marcus

August 1, 201114 yr I run it perfectly on my slightly older iMac 27" with the 48xx ATI. It's wonderful now that ATI produces its own Bootcamp drivers allowing for the Catalyst control center. This gives me 8x FSAA without a major performance hit, but I do run it at 1080HD res and not full panel res. Be sure to turn off FSAA inside FSX though. The Catalyst also has a better anisotropic filtering settings then what's available in the FSX settings. Here is the download page for Win 7 x64 (you can find it by specifying Mac drivers then Bootcamp drivers from the filtering drop downs): http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/bootcamp-win7.aspxThis is something I believe not many now about yet, they just stick with Apples drivers from 2010 that comes with the Bootcamp updates.Max Persson Max Persson
August 1, 201114 yr You could use an overclock, just a thought. Can you overclock a mac ? Rich Rich Sennett
August 1, 201114 yr Author You could use an overclock, just a thought. Can you overclock a mac ? RichI don't know, but I do not think I want to. Are there many dangers in over clocking a machine like this? Best Regards, Sam Cordell www.airplane-times.com
August 1, 201114 yr I guess some people see the video playback, discover all the features and are left wondering if their system will cope. The 737 NGX appears light years ahead of any other aircraft currently on sale so I guess its only natural to have last minute nerves. Not everyone has previously purchased from PMDG before either so they don`t know the true diligence that goes into ensuring a top notch plane that still has a decent set of FPS on most computer systems. People also purchase a computer not knowing how powerful they are, its suprising how many people go into a shop and ask for a good games system but know nothing of what they are purchasing. Theirs an old saying I hold very true "the only stupid question is the one you never ask". No offence intended.....
August 1, 201114 yr I don't know if this has been said before, or whether if it is at all relevant. But I've heard people say the NGX is comparable to the MD11, which I think is somewhat similar to the 747X. If this is true, people with previous PMDG addons might use preferably MD11 to use as a testing tool to get an indication of how their system will run under the conditions desired by the user. As for people that hasn't got any previous PMDG addons before, you're missing out ;) And I can't think of a solution for you really. Either way from my observations (these topics have been asked numerous times before as Renzo and probably many have said) and experience (not much at all), the 2nd series icore, they can generally do superb with an OC of 4.0 or above. First series they run file at stock, but OC to 4.0, for me anyway, they run good (that is with tweaks of course). Please correct me if I'm wrong in any way. A little rough on the fps, but overall, not too bad! Also, it seems that PMDG might have optimized the NGX for better frames the the 747, so it could be the same or even better!
