RAM Upgrade
Brenchen replied to Brenchen's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThat's some good advice there thanks for that. I held off the RAM for the time being until probably a bit later on, so will keep that in mind for future shopping.

RAM Upgrade
Hi all, I have been running a powerful machine for my simming needs for a while, but now I am getting more into video production and editing (Premiere Pro and AE). I have a set of 8GB G.Skill 2400MHz CL9 ram at the moment, clocked at 2166MHz, but it doesn't seem to be enough for my video needs. If I would like to upgrade my RAM, what would you recommend and how much of it? The reason I am asking here is because I would like my selection of RAM to be compatible and efficient for my simming needs. And rest of my specs are: Asus ROG Maximus Gene V i5 3570K OC 4.9GHz NVidia GTX780 Ti superclocked HDD: 2TB WD Caviar Black SSD: 2x 512GB Samsung Evo (I think), 1x 1TB Samsung Evo Custom water loop (can't remember brand) Corsair Modular PSU 7/850W (can't remember exactly) Thanks in advance,

Career Advice in the Flight Simulation Industry
Wow, very encouraging indeed! Definitely put a good application together and see how far it takes me Thanks mate Now why didn't I think of using the word "manufacturer", that would have given me more spot-on hits than what i've been using! I'll check through that one, thanks for that.

Career Advice in the Flight Simulation Industry
Sorry I should have made it more specific. When I say Flight Simulation I mean commercial grade Flight Training Devices, more like FDS and Cockpitsonic. I might try sending my CV through to Redbird as well, hope they have more opening than ones advertised. Thanks.

Career Advice in the Flight Simulation Industry
Thank you for the kind words Ron. When I was working for the sim company, I needed to drive 2 hours each way to work (3 to 4 days a week) and that lasted for over a year (including some road accidents avoiding them kangaroos), so with certainty, and in comparison to other work I've done, I can confidently use the words "burning passion"

Career Advice in the Flight Simulation Industry
Thanks for the reply Ron. I assume you are referring to LM in the US? What I found was that many of these military focused companies from US or Canada required that I am at least a US Citizen or bilingual (French/English), which I do not qualify for. I have tried to look at Thales, CAE, BR&TA, LM, Raytheon, BAe, Bombardier and some other big boys I cannot quite remember, but the experience they require is where I am falling over. I am now focusing on smaller companies but not quite sure what is out there besides ones that are renowned in the FS community. However, I am still keeping an eye out for the bigger players in case any falls through.

Career Advice in the Flight Simulation Industry
Hi all, I have a burning passion to get into the flight simulation industry in the engineering domain as a long-term career path. However, I don't have all the necessary experiences that CAE or Thales or the likes look for. I do have what I consider as the appropriate qualification and some previous experience in a sim manufacturing company. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to get my foot in the door? I am willing to travel to other countries (currently in Australia) if need be. Thanks in advance, Brendan

Saab 340A v1.2 Update Released!
Is there a way to get notified when there's a sale?

MOBO & Intel Chip?
I'm running a 3570K and upped from 3.8GHz to 4.6GHz, nothing else was changed (tweaks, installs the lot were all unchanged). The performance improvement I witnessed was about 20FPS (sitting around 20FPS before the OC till about 38FPS) for P3D v2. This was running PMDG773 sitting on the runway at ORBX YBBN with ORBX global+trees (not much clouds at the time) working at the time. So your focus should be on how much any single core can be clocked up to, whether it's i5 or i7.

Soaring in FSX, with ASN + CumulusX!...
What about Condor? There's a lot of talk about its great realism (although the glider panel graphics are a bit outdated). Having said that, I did a quick google for a comparison of SW and Condor, here they are just for reference: http://forum.condorsoaring.com/viewtopic.php?t=9116 http://forum.silentwings.no/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=407 Sorry to veer off track from FSX and CumulusX!

Transition to xplane 10
Wow that is really cool! Which brand does that?

Transition to xplane 10
Are you sure about the 4GB? I'm running at 780Ti and it only has 3G? But yes graphic card can be quite important for XPX, along with the rest of the hardware. Perhaps have a look at: Hardware Guide Must-Have Addons Have a look around forums.x-plane.org, there are much more information, that's what I got told when I made the switch some 1-2 months ago.

Alabeo Tomahawk is released
Nah can't be, even in RL we ground our tomahawks because of rough winds, I don't see this behaviour on the blades. Might be an XPX thing...

What do you consider as essential addons for XPX?
But coming from FSX, runway slopes are a major feature to me, but just seems a little over?

What do you consider as essential addons for XPX?
Sloping runway is an amazing invention and it's great that XPX has it. However, I've tried to get what I consider as essential addon and installed the ZSSS scenery. This looks a little over doesn't it? Is it scenery specific or have I installed other Mesh HD etc that doesn't work? Any suggestions on how to overcome this at all? Cheers,

Alabeo Tomahawk is released
Very good information Vincent. Also I'd like to ask, when the engine is not running, the prop ticking little bit by little bit, until it gets to a certain combustion point the prop goes a quarter of the way then stops, ticking again. Haven't seen this behaviour anywhere else before, any suggestions?

Alabeo Tomahawk is released
I was just about to make a purchase for the XPX PA38 and realise they say Tomahawk II? Does that mean it's a different one from the one that was initially released (ie there was a 1 sometime ago)?

Imagine Sim ZSPD Shanghai - Pudong released
They are two different types of developers, SS are tech savy people interested to develop high quality sceneries with the aim so that they can fly into aerodrome and enjoy themselves, selling them is just a secondary thing. However, ImagineSim I believe is more focused in developing products to make money off.
