August 6, 201114 yr Does anyone have any experience with Pro Flight Emulator Plus? Or can you recommend a good add-on that will let me plan a flight and have ATC guide me through all the way to final with altitude calls etc?ThanksAlan MB ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Z68; GPU nVIDIA GTX 570 ; CPU INTEL i7 2600K 3.4; MEMORY MUSHKIN 8GB; ANTEC KUHLER H20 620; WD VELOCIRAPTOR 600GB; WIN7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT, SAMSUNG 34" 1080P TRACKiR 5 PRO FSX with SP1 and SP2; ORBX PF, PNW, NRM, CRM, AUS (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, & RED, SP4), YBCS, YBBN
August 6, 201114 yr Alan, PFE is strictly an ATC program. It does not do flight planning. You might want to look at FS Build or even vRoute for flight planning.
August 6, 201114 yr Author MikeThanks for your reply. I would have thought that you have to enter a flight plan in order to get the correct ATC commands -- although probably not as sophisticated and automated as the one you recommend. August 6, 201114 yr I highly recommend FS Build, you can load routes from multiple sources or use its auto generation feature to develop a route. For flights in the US or leaving the US for Europe, Asia or South America I use Flight Aware to get a real world route and then load that route into FSBuild to generate my flight plan for FSX and my LDS 767. Works just great, plus I have it integrated with Active Sky to get winds and it provides data for Radar Contact ATC. IMHO, FS Build is by far the superior flight planner available. Bob Johnson
August 6, 201114 yr Author Hi BobThanks for that recommendation. Does FS Build provide any ATC voice (or visual) instructions as you fly the route?Alan MB ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Z68; GPU nVIDIA GTX 570 ; CPU INTEL i7 2600K 3.4; MEMORY MUSHKIN 8GB; ANTEC KUHLER H20 620; WD VELOCIRAPTOR 600GB; WIN7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT, SAMSUNG 34" 1080P TRACKiR 5 PRO FSX with SP1 and SP2; ORBX PF, PNW, NRM, CRM, AUS (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, & RED, SP4), YBCS, YBBN
August 6, 201114 yr Alan, FS Build is strictly a flight planner. You export your flight plan to FSX or a number of different addon aircraft. PFE, on the other hand is strictly an ATC program. you import a flight plan that you've created with FS Build or any number of different flight planning programs. I don't believe that there is a program that does both other than the FSX flight planner and ATC.
August 6, 201114 yr Author MikeI'll investigate PFE and see if it will import from FS Build. I like the idea of VoxATC but not sure how that works with a planned route.ThanksAlan MB ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Z68; GPU nVIDIA GTX 570 ; CPU INTEL i7 2600K 3.4; MEMORY MUSHKIN 8GB; ANTEC KUHLER H20 620; WD VELOCIRAPTOR 600GB; WIN7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT, SAMSUNG 34" 1080P TRACKiR 5 PRO FSX with SP1 and SP2; ORBX PF, PNW, NRM, CRM, AUS (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, & RED, SP4), YBCS, YBBN
August 6, 201114 yr MikeI'll investigate PFE and see if it will import from FS Build. I like the idea of VoxATC but not sure how that works with a planned route.ThanksAlanVoxATC works very well with pre-planed routes. You load an FSX .pln file and it reads the waypoints within. (Or as I do, I activate a route from my AivlaSoft EFB and bypass the FSX planner altogether.) If you insert all of the waypoints in your route from a SID or a STAR, VoxATC will instruct you to fly the procedure by name. If you simply list a transition fix in your route that could apply to more than one SID or STAR VoxATC will choose a procedure that is suited to you. For example, if your last waypoint for a flight into KSFO is OAL (a VOR that's about 210nm from KSFO) VoxATC would give you instructions to fly either Modesto-3, Locke-1 or Yosemite-1. And to your original question, no there isn't a single product that does both flight planning and ATC. There are good planners and good ATC programs, but not one that does both.
August 6, 201114 yr Author I've just watched videos of PFE and FDC -- looks good so far. FDC reads off the checklist and guides you to the runway including interactions with ground and departure control. After take off PFE takes over.Need to investigate further.Alan MB ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Z68; GPU nVIDIA GTX 570 ; CPU INTEL i7 2600K 3.4; MEMORY MUSHKIN 8GB; ANTEC KUHLER H20 620; WD VELOCIRAPTOR 600GB; WIN7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT, SAMSUNG 34" 1080P TRACKiR 5 PRO FSX with SP1 and SP2; ORBX PF, PNW, NRM, CRM, AUS (BLUE, GOLD, GREEN, & RED, SP4), YBCS, YBBN
August 6, 201114 yr Does anyone have any experience with Pro Flight Emulator Plus? Unfortunately there's no navdata for it anymore (latest one is almost 2 years old) and support is pretty much nonexistent.
August 7, 201114 yr Author Okay I purchased FS Build for flight planning and PFE for ATC directions.
