August 7, 201114 yr Experts, can somebody explain to me for what reason project magenta software is needed when you fly a bird like the pmdg 737 NGX or the iFly 737? This Products allready come with all this features such as a pfd and a cdu. So why do so many people still you the PM software modules?Thx Frank Wayne Interessierts
August 7, 201114 yr Commercial Member Frank, Project Magenta is for cockpit builders, If someonw wants to build a NG home simulator with all panels then programs like PM is what they use for all functionality. They use the airfiles from other addons like PMDG to have more accurate flight dynamics Chris Makris PLEASE NOTE PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at http://forum.pmdg.com
August 7, 201114 yr Author Ah, ok. So that means using a software like Project Magenta only on a PC with the PMDG 737 deosnt make sence. Its only for controlling real hardware, like overheads or the throttel? Wayne Interessierts

Its only for controlling real hardware, like overheads or the throttel? I use Project Magenta for my home cockpit. It is a few seperate programs which can be run on different PC's through a network.I use 8 PC's for my cockpit.2 for captains & F/O displays.1 for Eicas display.2 for both CDU's1 for Instructer Station1 for Overhead panel1 for FSX (outside visuals only) It is a real Boeing 737 flight deck and real Boeing controlls and Quadrant. August 7, 201114 yr How much money did you spent on this? And how much time development? It took 2 years to get it finished and flying.I bought the cockpit in England and shipped it over to Ireland. 5,000 euro approx. All the panels are from Flightdeck Solutions in Canada. 20,000 euro approx.8 fairly powerful dell computers and various size monitors for the cockpit displays. 10,000 approx.Project Magenta software. 1,200 euro.Boeing throttle quadrant and 2 seats. 10,000 approx. Lots of other bit and pieces etc...................about 5,000 euro. Sometimes I enjoy the PMDG more !!It only cost 50 euro !!!!!! Lots of sleepless nights pulling my hair out !!!! I can't remember how tp post more pics ? Frederic Frederic Steiner.

August 7, 201114 yr Holy moley! That's amazing, You must have some great job to be earning money like that... I won 250,000 in the Irish lotto 3 years ago so decided to start my 737 simulator project. It was not easy going at all. Very hard sourcing parts and things.Getting the whole thing to work like the real thing was the biggest challenge. I had a few 737 pilots lined up for all the testing and made adjustments to their specs. The local Ryanair guys love it.Sometimes I can't get them out of it !!!! Frederic. Frederic Steiner.
August 7, 201114 yr Wow, good for you, if only I could win the lotto, that can be my next aim in life. Rónán O Cadhain.
August 7, 201114 yr Hi Frederic, does the PMDG NGX play nicely with all your hardware? I expect there would be a few conflicts :( Rex Hall
August 7, 201114 yr Hi Frederic, does the PMDG NGX play nicely with all your hardware? I expect there would be a few conflicts I don't use the PMDG NGX with any hardware. Not even a joy stick !!I use it for test flights and it is great for the various systems. It handles even nicer than my real sim. Trying to build a cockpit setup without Project magenta would be a waste of time. That said, PM is not without it's problems and their software support is practically non existant.I learned everything I know from their forums and other cockpit building forums.
