Programming a DME ARC?

Featured Replies

This is not yet implemented in the NGX. Due to the Navigraph database not containing a procedure database but only SID/STAR, Airports, WPT Fixes and Navaids. But I thought this was also on the planning for future service packs. EDIT: What you can do though is OR enter the Navaid Identifier in the FIX page and enter the distance of the arc as /<Distance> on the ---/--- below RAD/DIS and follow the green dashed circle with HDG SEL. Or go to the legs page and enter for example the points: SPL280/25, SPL270/25 SPL260/25 to create fixes on the intersections of the radials 280, 270 and 260 with the 25DME ARC. So you create fixes on the 25DME arc, and this way your LNAV can fly them for you ;) Of course how smaller the intervals of the radials, the preciser it will be ;)
a little confused here. I'm used to be able to create additional waypoints from the FIX page by entering for example 010/10, 030/10, 050/10 etc... And then line select those would display the new waypoint in the scratchpad which then can be added in the LEGS page, I used to do so with the other pomdg boeings and the LD767 but lineselecting them on the NGX FIX page has no effect. Are you saying that that's because it's not implemented yet or are you talking about something else and what i describe can be done in the NGX but i am doing something wrong. ?

Am i the only one not being able to line select radial points from a fix on the FIX page so to paste them in the LEGS page ??? Is this not YET implemented or is there another reason? Thanks.

Where do you get this information on what is and what is not yet implemented in the FMC? I've read that the NGX's FMC would be the most extensive simulation ever done for flightsimulator. So, I'd like to know why the FMC is not doing what i'm used to do with the LD767/ 747x FMC. Either i'm doing something wrong or an implementation has still to arrive in a future SP.

It's a bug, they said it will be fixed in SP. You can use legs page to directly enter your waypoints (for example: VEB101/10)

You cannot fly rnp approaches, or better, you can, but with many limitations. Same is with NGX FMC. Whats wrong with you all, can anyone fly without LNAV/VNAV? Cmon, DME ARCs are great for manual, or "MCP" flying... Lj. Prodanovic

ARC's are very much still in use! Read Cairns and Barcelone El Prat for example! The RNAV SID's will also fly ARCs, but set it up via the FIX page for extra visual guidance! I did it for Barcelona, I used 2 pages for just one VOR :oD

OK, thanks, that was actually the only thing i wanted to have confirmed. I must have missed PMDG's comments on this one.

What is an "MP approach" ? Thanks.

lol, that is RNP, but when you write it with small letters (rnp), r and n looks like m :( Lj. Prodanovic

But not all DME ARCs are possible to fly manually, check EPPO terminal procedures for example. I prefer to fly them manually whenever possible :)

Why EPPO ARC DMEs are not possible to fly manually? I cannot se any restriction of any kind. There are few approaches with DME ARCs, but all are on same distance and on same VOR. DME ARC is defined with entrypoint (VOR R YYY D XX), ARC distance, and exit point (VOR R ZZZ D XX). Its designed to use radionavigation to fly it. Lj. prodanovic
