Automatic Go-Around problems

Featured Replies

Pan, Did you manage to do an automatic go-around with the NGX? Like some other people I don't get it to work. I'm very curious if you are able to execute a automatic go-around. Please, let us know! Kind regards
Yes. Make sure that the PFD has announced LAND3 (you'll also see FLARE in white) prior hitting toga. . That's when the ILS is actually coupled.

Hi Pan, Regarding the FCOM you don't need to have the failure operational option to perform the automatic go-around. But even with that option on the aircraft is not responding as it should (just like described in my first post). I have both nav's and course selectors set on the ILS and I have the flare annunciation on the FMA. I'll try to make a video of it today to show you. If there is any possibility to show me an video of a good example of a completely automatic go-around that would be appreciated. Kind regards

I tried a LAND3 go around ...150AGL > TO/GO at the same time flaps 15 (less then 1sec) and then gear up 1sec laterAfter that I retracted my flaps indicated on the speedtape ... I get a climbrate around 700 until I reach 400agl and then I activated VNAV and LNAV and get a climrate of ~1000 I think this is correct ?

Not really. You should get 1000-2000 fpm. The FD should give you an initially pitch of about 15 degrees and thereafter a pitch that will give you the manoeuvre speed for your current flap setting. I just made a video of it, coming up in a couple of minutes.

I'm sorry for the bad quality, I don't know why it is not in HD format. Anyway, as you can see in the clip I am stabilized on an ILS approach at Rotterdam. It is in dual channel mode (see the flare annunciation in the FMA). Just below 100' I push the TOGA once and selecting the flaps to 15. Maybe I was a little bit late with the gear but thrust me, that don't make any difference. I really hope I am doing something stupid here and that there is nothing wrong with the NGX here. But I'm afraid this isn't the case.

Kind regards

Thanks for the video Daniel - quality is fine and HD if watched through the link to YouTube. Haven't tried a GA yet but the video has given me the rudiments of how it is done.

Yeah, I'm convinced the TOGA pitch mode might in fact be correct, it's gotta be the reduced G/A thrust though. I see you were lucky to have G/A thrust limit as well, sometimes when set to AUTO it would give me CRZ or CLB. Quality seems HD here, no worries. On a side note, what do you use to record? Different question, folks. Any way to arm LNAV for G/A, as seen in this picture during a circling? FDs had been cycled off and on before in order to be prepared for potential G/A. Reference could be found in FCOM Vol 2 4.20.28 and following. ga_lnav.jpgsig.gif

I cant get my climb to over 700 with flaps 0 ... If I use flaps 15 I get even less ...But in before the first people come in and say GA works perfect and you should fly GA manual and not on A/P ... oh wait ...

Pan, I would like to know what your thoughts are regarding the video. Do I something wrong here? Maybe someone else who has real hours or the knowledge? Kind regards

Yes I see what you mean. This should be already fixed with Hotfix 2. Can you confirm this?

I don't think its fixed ... hotfix 3 and still only get 500-700fpm at go-around

First TOGA hit should give an 8% climb rate. GW and temps you tried it?

It gives me between 5-7° climbrate and ~900-1000fpm with 93.5lbs gw and 15°C or 59°FThat was with an empty plane with less then 2lbs fuel left and no payload ...Its way worse with more fuel and payload

I tried an automatic go-around last night (hotfix3) and had the same behaviour as seen in my video. :-( Kind regards, Daniel Verhaal
