AUTO THROTTLE DISENGAGE

Featured Replies

Not sure if the is a snag or a user induced problem. When I click the hidden spot for the auto throttle prior to take off the AT switch disengages. Have I missed a step (I have not seen anything that suggests anomalies of this kind). I have tried it several times, other times it will dis-engage during the takeoff roll which is simply corrected by re-engaging it. I have had it dis-engage in flight as well, however when this happens I have noticed that the power levers appear to have an un-commanded split. My input devices have been properly calibrated and do not have any noise (this was my first area of focus). Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Simeon, I would try without the throttles physically engaged. And then rule them out.Otherwise a snap shot of your main panel and a description of your pre-flight would be helpful. Cheers,

I forgot to mention that I did disable the PFC throttle quadrants. I will take a snap shot of the panel when I get home in the morning. Thanks

Hi Simeon, I also have a problem with the A/T, it will disengage while at cruise on its own and I will not be able to engage it again. If I select the A/T, it immediately disengages. I've disconnected my VRAC throttle quad and I still have the problem.

Mine as well disengages, but I've noticed this more often on descent with VNAV armed. I don't know if this is the way it should be.

Ok so I am not alone in the maybe miniscule venture Worried.gif . When I performed the first tutorial flight all went well, it was after my 4th flight that i started noticing the problem. i have followed all the sequences of the tutorial just using different cities. Now during flight if it disconnects it will remain connected sometimes and not dis-engage, but there are times that I have to re-engage multiple times.

Mats, Here goes: I commenced another flight from KBUF to KLGA this morning, got the pre-flight completed, lined up for the runway, spooled the engines to approximately 40%, the I clicked on the hidden spot, and voila the Auto-throttle disengages ( I tried re-engaging it 3 times - no luck). Here are the images showing the scenario, I am now thinking a short video clip would have been betterautothrolle-disengage.jpgautothrolle-disengage_a.jpg Now what is odd, after several attempts of trying to use the hidden click spot I clicked on the power levers button and they activated.

Simeon, Looks like you have an imbalance between ENG1 and ENG2 there. Without delving into the FCOM too deep I think that asymmetry will disconnect the A/T. Were those shots taken with or without the throttle, or any hardware, physically connected to your PC? Hope it helps,

No not odd at all. You are just not familiar with the system (yet). AT will disarm when thrust imbalance exceeds 2000 lbs. Look at your N1's in the picture. 34.4 left and 26 right. Now you are familiar with the system smile.png

When I took those shots they were done with the quads enabled. Well then it seems odd that it does not work from the hidden spot but worked from the button on the power levers. I will give it a run with both scenarios again in the morning Thanks for the input.....

During the descent portion of your FMC flight plan, the FMC will disengage throttles and bring them to idle as the verticle speed will be enough to get your speed to what the FMC states for the speed limits for each leg.

I repeat : at more than 2000 lbs thrust imbalance the AT will disarm. It does not care how you set it. It just disarms. Obviously in the other case it was less than 2000 lbs thrust imbalance. The rest is theories...

To add to my original post.....I had another AT dis-connect in flight, which happened with the throttle quad disabled. The right power lever in the cockpit went to flight idle

To add to my original post.....I had another AT dis-connect in flight, which happened with the throttle quad disabled. The right power lever in the cockpit went to flight idle
So, the A/T moved only one throttle to idle, with the physical throttles disabled, then the thrust differential disarmed the A/T, is that what you saw? I did have the A/T controlmonly one throttle, but I blamed it on my physical throttles, but in your case they are not connected ( right?).Thanks, Bruce.

So you say the right lever went to idle which suggests the left didn't. Seems to be something with the sync of the throttles. Confirm you disconnected (physically) the H/W throttles, not just disabled them. We'll solve this,
