August 11, 201114 yr Hello I'm having trouble getting the v speeds to appear on the PFD. The IRS is aligned and I have loaded the route with departure and arrival runways along with their procedures. I have also filled up the INIT page along with the take off page, I see the v speeds on the FMC and confirm them however they fail to appear on the PFD. (It says no v speeds) Any Thoughts ? Thanks ******* H.
August 11, 201114 yr Execute the PERF INIT page and all problems will be solved, VNAV will work either. Tell me if this helps.Arjen Vandervelde Arjen Vandervelde

August 11, 201114 yr *******,That's exactly what I meant. After you have aligned the IRS, and then created your route along with all the waypoints, SID/STAR, dep/arr runways, you should go along to the PERF INIT page. When there, fill in ZWF by double clicking it. Then RESERVES, I recommend 5 lbs (2 kgs), then Cost Index. This is normally around 25, so 25 is alright. Then your Cruisng Altitude. Just fill in the altitude closest to the altitude recommend (which you can see right next to it). After you have done this there is a very important step you have to accomplish. As you can see right now, the light above the EXEC button should be illuminated. That means you should press the EXEC button, so do that. That's what I meant by executing it: simply pressing the EXEC button. And yes something does happen after doing this; the V Speeds will appear on the PFD! Then get along to the N1 limit page, choose your thrust ratings for T/O and CLB. Now go to the take off page, and choose your flaps. This is normally only 5 degrees. However this should be 10 degrees when the aircraft is really heavy. Right now the V Speeds will appear. Click the Line Select Keys (LSK) next to them, to confirm them. Now the V Speeds will appear on the speed tape on the PFD. And as you said "However the V Speeds do now appear on the PFD", the problem is now solved isn't it? The last thing you should do is double clicking the C/G line to fill in the C/G position to get your trim setting. If VNAV isn't working now, that's because BOTH F/D's should be on, and so does A/T.Tell me if this helps, and if it doesn't, we'll try something else.Greetings,Arjen Arjen Vandervelde
August 11, 201114 yr Then RESERVES, I recommend 5 lbs (2 kgs) That is your reserves? Or you mean 5%? Lj. Prodanovic
August 11, 201114 yr I mean 5 lbs x 1000 or 2 kgs x 1000, my mistake. I'm so used to the FMC displaying it like that... Arjen Vandervelde
August 12, 201114 yr Author Thank You Arjen!! It's working now, my mistake was that I wasn't putting any values in the cost index and reserves.
August 15, 201114 yr But after a bundle of trouble, I am now not getting the Vspeeds to show in the CDU. I complete the entire Init Ref process through to the takeoff page, but no Vspeeds appear beside the LSKs where I then used to LSK them into place and of course get the Vspeeds on the tape. Believe me I have values in every part of the fuel and load page. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
August 15, 201114 yr Sometimes the V-speed don't show because the speeds are not in the QRH table. This happens with high payloads and N1 limits page with Take-Off 2 and Climb 2 or something like that. Perhaps thats you're problem? Also check the flaps setings. Normal is Flaps 5 I belove, so when you take another flaps setting you will have to check if the V-speeds are correct...Hope this helps! Maarten Knoppert
August 15, 201114 yr Pmdg included 2 operation manuals for a reason +1 Surely they are there just for decoration, as most posts could have been answered by actually reading the manuals :) Dave
