  1. Knoppie

    Your age?

Happy birthday Mark! Oh and for the record...I'm 31... Flying since the roaring nineties (FS4)
  2. I don't think it will be out in november. Sure we have one picture now with the promise of more to come. But until I see some videos emerging I don't think they're ready to release in months time. I'm 100% sure that, unless I will suffer from a terrible accident, my money will end up with FSLabs! Can't wait to finally have a proper airbus!!
  3. Hi Hans, Looking forward to seeing you on the Dutch VACC site Like Xander has replied, the vectors given by ATC to get you from the IAF to the runway are roughly like that. Depending on wind, sequencing, etc. it may vary. I also saw you had a chart of a night transition, that can also be used but don't expect the standard FSX ATC to comply with it. You can also fly the full procedure like you would do in real life with lost communication. In that case fly from the IAF to SPL VOR on FL70. After that follow the ILS procedure turn to final approach. A great site, official, with free, uptodate charts can be found at http://www.ais-netherlands.nl, here you can fin all the charts related to Schiphol as well as other Dutch airports.
  4. It seems you're flying over my house... I don't like to be disturbed, so I made it as unpleasant as possible to fly over... Sorry, I don't have anything to solve your problem, but I do live on that piece of land down and in the middle of your picture, so I had to respond... Good luck solving your problem an hopefully the next time you fly GRONY-ANDIK-SPY you can see the beautiful skies over Holland again!!
  5. That would be great!! Also... Remember the FS95 function "Land me". PMDG, I know MS has got rid of that function since, but it wouldn't be too hard coding it it in a gauge, would it? Oh and I will sign this one off properly:
  6. I would love a plane that's capable of flying on FS standard GPS... FMSs are so overrated! And please incorporate a gauge to 'talk' to the standard ATC and automatically puts the heading and altitude on the simplified Autopilot...
  7. Hi Richard. Do you fly the standard FS9 scenery, because I couldn't find that anywhere here. In 2004/2005 the ILS frequency changed to what it is today, only the standard FS9 scenery has the old frequency (it also has a runway less, in case you didn't notice ;) ) You can check the frequency on your nav/rad page against the frequency displayed on the map in your FS. Hope this will help and hope to see you soon flying to Amsterdam!
  8. Sometimes the V-speed don't show because the speeds are not in the QRH table. This happens with high payloads and N1 limits page with Take-Off 2 and Climb 2 or something like that. Perhaps thats you're problem? Also check the flaps setings. Normal is Flaps 5 I belove, so when you take another flaps setting you will have to check if the V-speeds are correct...Hope this helps!
  9. Achmad, Be warned! Once installed and flown, you never want anything else Good luck and God speed!
  10. Henri, I use AES from Aerosoft. When you configure the plane in the AES Helper application, joy have to enable (and configure) the rear exit... Hope this helps...
  11. So, Near decision height I saw the airport again and disconnected the autopilot. I handflew the baby to the runway. Some great cockpit shots with the terrainradar on. Everything was coloured red on the MFD. After the landing I saw that the FSX ATC had done a wonderful job in puting rwy 08 in use instead of the correct rwy 26...Anyway, it made a good opportunity for me to compare a stock 737 with my 737. I thought my Transavia was way cooler :) Last screen is at the terminal. The passengers are waiting for the buses to arrive to take them to the terminal :) PMDG once again thank you for this great aircraft, it's a beauty!!! Hopefully we'll get the second tutorial anytime soon because EHAM-LOWI is just a fantastic route to fly, especcially at sunset :)
  12. Tonight I flew from Amsterdam (EHAM) to Innsbruck (LOWI). Unfortunately I don't have any screens of EHAM, but I do have some exceptionally nice ones of the cruise and descend. The route was a standard vatroute.net one. I just recently mastered the autopilot and in preparation of tutorial no. 2 I decided to take the challenge between the mountains :) First picture is near waypoint misgo just outside of Holland near cruise altitude. The sun was already setting. Next one was somewhere south of Frankfurt. A glorious dark orange sunset (and now my new wallpaper :) ). Because I was checking out the weather at LOWI via the REX weather engine I totally forgot to set the altitude for descend, so I had to hold above the IAF Rattenberg NDB. I've never used it but well I gave it a try and it worked out just fine. On final to LOWI I entered a new cloud layer (REX just finished uploading new weather to FSX), but fortunately about 10 feet abve decision height I managed to regain the visual at the airport. Because of the new weather and me being late with sowing down, the speed was a little too high for the flaps. Thank God it's FSX and not real life :)
  13. Thank you Mike for giving me some help! Today I managed to make a normal flight. I think it was because either I tried to engage LNAV and VNAV again while I was taking off, or I was flying to far off the vertical beam, so too far off the VNAV path to be engaged propely with the CMD A button.
  14. Hello everybody! I was wondering if someone could give me some pointers on things I'm possibly doing wrong. For all he flights I've made so far, including the tutorial flight twice, I've never managed to fly with the LNAV and VNAV path, it simply wont 'take over control'. Before I start my take-off roll I ensure that both Flight directors are set ON, Autothrottle is ON and VNAV and LNAV are both selected and green.Furthermore, the CDU has no discontinuinities, the route entered is a purple color, the CDU has calculated all the speeds and altitudes for the legs. Trim is set, flaps are set, all is well... When I start the take-off roll I apply about 40% thrust before engaging the TO/GA mode with CTRL-SHIFT-G, as stated in the tutorial. Then the throttles will go up normally, TO/GA mode is present on the MFD as well. But what happens is that both VNAV and LNAV are going off, the knobs are no longer lit and the MFD has no recollection of both ever present. Neiher of them can be engaged once airborne (knobs will lit up and LNAV and VNAV both appear on the MFD but no automatic action to follow the path is been taken) So: my question is: What the heck am I doing wrong??? Oh and by the way, PMDG did a great job with this 737NGX!! Regards, Maarten Knoppert
