August 15, 201114 yr The yaw damper doesn't seem to work lately. I'll preflight the aircraft normally, following the checklists and everything, but when the yaw damper is switched the yaw damper light remains and will not extinguish, No failures are active, both engine driven generators are supplying power, both IRS are aligned. No other warning lights are on except the yaw damper light any ideas, anyone else see this?
August 15, 201114 yr No active failures. Sound familiar? j/k I'm at a loss, but for me, little things like this have been because of a less than obvious over site on my part. This thing is more finicky than other simulations in that everything is linked under the hood more accurately than I'm used to. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

Woopsy... =P Well, yaw damper is not required for dispatch, so you should be good to go anyways... Isaac Magalhaes
August 15, 201114 yr Did you align the IRS properly? The yaw damper will not work until then. Sean Green
August 15, 201114 yr @Zach, your not aloneAll I know is, get to takeoff config = Your good to fly, if my Yaw Damper stops working I'm screwed.Solution = Restart flight.

August 15, 201114 yr @Zach, your not aloneAll I know is, get to takeoff config = Your good to fly, if my Yaw Damper stops working I'm screwed.Solution = Restart flight. You can still fly perfectly fine without yaw damper... Isaac Magalhaes
August 15, 201114 yr You can still fly perfectly fine without yaw damper... Thought you had me there huh? I'm not that stupid.I was drawing an example, without changing the topic :PI'm not sure if a pilot knew the yaw damper wasn't working he'd intentionally go fly.

August 15, 201114 yr You really gotta follow the procedures to a T. I was getting a takeoff config warning on every takeoff for a while and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was... Turns out without even thinking about it, I was arming the ground spoilers when I lowered the flaps, like I do on the MD-11. Sure enough that's nowhere to be found in the procedures and sets off the takeoff config alarm when you start your takeoff roll. Even today I screwed up something with the pressurization system in my preflight... I had taken a good long while preflighting nearly everything, and I went to load 24,500 lbs of fuel. I typed 245 into the scratchpad and added 245 pounds of fuel. The APU almost instantly shut down... so everything went to DC power and that alarm started going off... and I got ticked off, shut down FSX, and started over again... Second time through, I was rushing and going by memory for most of it... everything seemed fine until I got off the ground at KBUR and got an "AUTO FAIL" warning. Reading in the QRH after getting annoyed at a second foul-up and quitting, I think I just forgot to turn the packs back on after starting the engines. That's what happens when you think you've memorized the procedures. Jack DeMarre Just an earthbound misfit My Current Flight Sim Setup: She ain't much to look at, but she's got it where it counts.
