August 22, 201114 yr Have done many, many flights without any incidents, but on my last, I got the same error, the Yaw Damper Light would not go off, nothing different than any other flight, no Failures, IRS was initiated correctly, all buttons in their correct position, just the darn light would not go off.... August 22, 201114 yr @JD345 best way to be sure you didn't forget anything is to open overhead panel and move you cursor slowly via columns, while watch switches positions. August 22, 201114 yr I had (and reported in another topic) the same issue in only one flight. In that flight I turned the plane on (obviously after count down) in few minutes, I've not let the IRS to get aligned when turned the YD active (it was aligning), the switch remained ON but light didn't extinguish.Had also a couple of times the overwing door lights ON after engine start. No failure, and no way to solve by cycling the overwing doors open/close. Did the flight with the light on. Regards Andrea Daviero
August 22, 201114 yr Hello, you should switch the Yaw dumper only when both IRS are aligned, otherwise the light does not turn off, at least in my previous experience.Bye. Capt. August 22, 201114 yr That has to be it, as I was turning the Yaw Damper right after the APU comes alive and is Online but the IRS are still Aligning, but funny is that I have been doing it this way for many flights and it just happened for the first time last night... August 30, 201114 yr I need to figure a way of reading the forum while I go on long flights. (smile) Just flew from San Francisco (KSFO) to Hawaii (PHNL) and the darn yaw damper light remained lit the entire way...... When shutting down at PHNL I noticed that one of the IRS switches wasn't in the right position. That HAD to be my problem!! Love the aircraft......... Now I just need to figure out how I can spend more time flying it.....(smile) Cheers,

August 30, 201114 yr In the real aircraft, the yaw damper can be switched on just a couple of seconds after starting the align process on the IRS's. Re-aligning the IRS's at the destination during the turn around automatically kicks it off again (which catches guys transitioning from the classics, as on these the yaw damper switch just stays on the whole day!) August 31, 201114 yr Once the ON DC lights on the IRS panel extinguish you can move the Yaw Damper switch to on and the light should go out. I have been dispatched with the yaw damper inoperative. It really wasn't too bad in cruise but during approach the plane was very unstable in yaw as more flaps were extended. They say avoid flaps 40 with an inop yaw damper. Tom Landry
