Good Flight Yoke + Throttle Quadrant...recommendations!

Featured Replies

Hi all, The Manager of finance has given me approval for a flight yoke + throttle (happy camper:) Can anyone suggest a flight yoke + throttle combo that is reasonably priced and that has force feedback if thats the norm? Many thanks in advance all..........

It would be awesome if "forcefeedback" was the norm but unfortunately it is not. there are one or two models that feature FFB but the costs are rather expensive, have a look: http://www.flightill...emart&Itemid=58 PFC:Depending on how flexible your budget is I would recommend a PFC (Precision Flight Controls) desktop yoke and their throttle quadrant which by the way has interchangeable modules for the different aircraft types (single, twins, turbo prop single and twins, and jets). You are looking at just about $1200.00 USD. This would be my first choice if I were a heavy simmer.https://flypfc.com/?...rus-beech-yoke/Throttle quadrant console: Each attachable module can be viewed on their websitehttps://flypfc.com/?...drant-console1/Attachable quadrants:https://flypfc.com/?...ttle-quadrants/ CH ProductsI have used their products for years as well and they are well built, but "to me" lack the feel of an actual yoke. However it does the job quite well. Their new Eclipse yoke has many programmable buttons and switches which allows for you to put many of your keyboard functions at your finger tips. Their throttle quadrant is also very versatile in different aircraft configurations, also programmable. SaitekMany here in the forums will swear by their yoke, but I have not had very good luck with their products. For one, I dislike their yoke design with the spring centering mechanism. Most yokes that I have used in real life do not have such a mechanism, then their throttle quadrants require that you buy two in order to simulate twin engine aircraft operations, each running about $60.00 (granted you can acquire this with one just assigning both engines to one axis). That being said, I may have had a streak of bad luck with my Saitek products as my rudder pedals keep stick in the right forward position. Again this is just my opinion, but Saitek I will admit has been releasing some new lines of flight control devices, I think they just released a Cessna line with a trim wheel. GoFlight:GF makes a throttle quadrant which I like the design concept of - interchangeable slots for each power lever, condition lever, mixture lever, or jet operations with reverse thrust levers, also the flap and speed brake levers can be configured. I think that this is the most versatile of them all and runs about $400.00.http://www.goflighti...drant-p-34.html That is all that I can provide at this time. I hope it was of some help. I know that the key word in your request was "reasonably priced", but if you are after a force feedback yoke it won't be reasonable.

i have a Saitek flight yoke and would not recommend it. The hat switch broke and now the Z-Axis is stuffed. Keeps jumping around like a flea. I do like the metal shaft though and the size of the quadrant. Although I said it was not great, it is a good buy for $200 over here.

I've been pretty happy with my Saitek throttles, yoke and pedals. Can't comment on the others as I have never used them. I did have a problem initially with the throttle spiking, but Saitek authorised the vendor to supply a new one within a week (I suspect that the vendor had reboxed a used throttle as this is typical of wht you might expect after 2 or 3 years of use). I've been happy with my CH Yoke, ThrottleQ and Pedals. Not flashy but rock solid. Never had a problem (hardware or driver software)! The many programmable buttons are a boon (elevator trim, ATC menu control, view and pan control, gear and flaps on the yoke and GPS control on the ThottleQ) as are the three extra axis on the Yoke (ground steering tiller, spoilers, turbo boost). Most folks forget about these extra switches and axis when comparing the CH hardware to other manufacturers, but they are very convenient and do save a lot of money since you don't have to buy extra hardware. Another factor is the CH axis pots are all standard linear audio pots that are easy to replace when they wear out (and they all do), vs. other manufacturers that employ miniature pots. Cheers, - jahman.

Personally use the saitek pro. There is a slight issue in that by default, and as far as I've been able to determine is completely not changable, dead zone. Basically, when the yoke (and rudder pedaps, I've found infact) loads it created a small dead zone in the yoke that means that you need to move the yoke about half an inch, or around 10 degrees either way before any actual movement is detected. It used to annoy the hell out of me when I first got the yoke, but I got used to it. The yoke itself is of good sturdy construction - it has a nice heavy feel to it! Regards, James
