can't get the screen inbetween the fmc's to work anymore

Featured Replies

Before the hotfix everything on the aircraft worked fine however since installing the hotfix not only have i found a massive drop in fps when re entering the cockpit from an outside view and also the screen inbetween the fmc's where you can get system infiomation (break temp, movement of control surfaces) doesn't want to work, i'v looked through the fmc's options and can't find anything that would stop it. Hope someone here can help Thanks Alex

If you have experienced worse performance after the hotfix, my recommendation would be to uninstall liveries, uninstall 737, install 737 then before starting FSX again install Aug 16 hotfix. Start FSX and give her a go.

I've posted about this before. I don't actually know if it is a bug or not but in the real 737 if you have side by side engine displays then the SYS page on the lower DU is an airline option. This info is from various airlines FCOMs found online, most operators now use the over/ under display config.Perhaps a retired 737 driver will pipe in here if there is one around. Have you submitted a support ticket to PMDG?Perhaps they will answer this as it has come up a few times now in this forum.P.s. My side by side option doesn't include the control surface position indicator either....Dan.

If you're using EFIS/MAP with the side-by-side upper engine DU display the lower one is now disabled in preparation for part of the SP1 update. There's no real world side-by-side display that has an active lower DU that we're aware of, they all have the MFD buttons labeled "INOP" to our knowledge. You already have the hydraulic stuff there on the upper display in side-by-side mode and we can't find any evidence in the real world of the lower DU being active with brake or flight control status when that configuration is used. That configuration is designed to mimic the cockpit layout of the older 737 classics (300-500) and those didn't have brake temps or flight control status indicators, so I'm betting that's why the lower display is INOPed.

ok that makes sense, i never checked the side by side for hydraulic stuff haha, is there anywhere to check the brake temp?. Whats the sp1 update going to do that means the DU lower needs to be disabled?

I had this problem. The way I fixed it was by going into the options on the CDU,select PFD/ND and Engine Side By Side change to NO.You can now get the lower DU to work by using the SYS and ENG button on the main Panel. Hope that helps. Tony

This confirms what I suspected. A couple of years ago when Southwest was still using the EFIS/MAP config, I asked a Captain about it, and she replied that SWA didn't use the lower DU. They switched over to the PFD/ND display in April 2010....and they still don't have the control surfaces and wheel brake data displayed, only the hydraulic info. ((Of course, that's just SWA!) Ryan - are you guys going to make this situation permanent for no SYS data display in the lower DU for the EFIS/MAP/Side-by-side? BTW, this is the best airliner for FSX ever created...you guys at PMDG are AWESOME!!!!!
