PMDG and the 737 Classic series..

Featured Replies

First off, before i start, this is not a topic to ask a question, it's more likely to gather opinions and just a general discussion as i was curios about it. I am not asking if they will make one or not, just want to open a discussion here. I for myself can only say i am AMAZED of the NGX. As a 737 classic fan however, i'd have everything i wanted with the NGX and the "CLX?" if PMDG would plan to build a proper, high quality, deep system depth simulation of the 737-300-500 series. This is just MY opinion, and i'd like to know yours. Do you think the 737 classic is too old to still gather some interest of others, or do you think it's old but still a product that would sell very well? I'd take the second option. Would you expect PMDG to plan the 737 CL in the future? One thing i want to add: Please, do not start a flamewar, i just want to have a chit chat here in the topic, peacefully, without giving anyone the feeling that this is another useless topic about questions that were asked multiple times. If you feel like this is really not apropriate, please delete it, my intensions are not to bug anyone or start a flameware here :)

Well if they do, can I be on the tech team? Bit rusty, but sure what the heck....

Well, what I gathered is that Feelthere is doing a classic 737 as we speak. So, I don't see PMDG doing a classic 737 that soon. I would love to have them, though. I like the 737 and I will make sure to have the complete series. I will also buy the CS 737-100/200 when it comes out in full (no exterior only stuff, I want all or nothing).

Hmm. Well i'd love to have the CL series with the NGX quality, realistic cockpit textures, dimensions and the system depth, that would make me happy. Is Feelthere actually re-creating their series or are they just updating a few things?

I think this is a great idea. The -500 is still so widely used that it'd please a lot of people. The problem with this is development status. So the NGX is rolled out, next is the expansions for it (model only expansions, systems are the same) then it's the Dash 8, the 777 and the 2 mystery products. The problem is the classics are a full system build. Think...they took 3 years to do the NGX. The 777 will be equal in quality, if not better. It's going to be a long time before they consider another project with 4 on the list. Unfortunately, as much as we all like the idea, it's probably not going to happen. By the time PMDG come round to actually doing a classic, Flight will be released and everyone will want a 777, 747 and 737 for Flight.

Reasonable aspect there. However, i still have the hope that PMDG is planning the CL series for one of their 2 projects which they haven't announced yet. As far as i can remember, the dev-team actually said that after the NGX, with it's code or system depth it won't take as much time with the other add-on's (777 for example), and since the CL series are most likely one of the closest family members to the NG, it could work out. But in the end, it's their call. If it's good for the marketing, why not? I wonder how many people would be interested into the 737-300 to 500..

I would be interested. It is still in service with hundreds still flying. Qantas, Air NZ, Southwest and many airlines have retrofitted them so they will last even longer. They look awesome with the winglets!

I think it's a completely new development, much like their ERJ 145, which was a complete rebuild of their older release.

I saw their guess and win and thought it had to be a CL. The extended engine strut, cockpit and it even looks like this version will feature the winglets. I hope it has the quality of the E-Jet.

No plans to do the classic series sorry.
Hey Ryan, thanks for letting us know! So that pretty much means our bubble got bursted :( Still thanks! @Thralni: That sounds great, but, as far as i know they haven't announced it officially, just kicked in a few small sized screenshots. But taking from the SS'es it's definitely going to be a classic or older. Would've been awesome to have all the products on the PMDG level.. *sigh*. :)

I thought they were doing the original 737.

I had no idea, they were different!Straight%20Face.gifExplain please.EDIT : You're talking about : the 737:200?And then there is the 300:400:500?

They are quite different. Yes, I am talking about the 737-200.1. Newer engines2. Different Tail3. Revised cockpit, similar design to 767 with newer CRT displays and old gauges4. Different interior5. Many other little thingshope this clears it up.
