Airport Gate Database

Featured Replies

Is it possible to determine which gates at which airports are in the database? I sure spend a lot of time trying to init pos places that aren't in the database on the FMC.

airport gates are all in there, but if the gate is on a taxiway then the letter tends to be in front of the gate, for example gate 42L at EGSS is on taxiway Charlie, so you need to enter C42L to get the coords.

Dave, thanks for that .... that was the little tidbit I was missing. I don't remember reading that anywhere, and I couldn't find it.

If you go into your PMDG folder - sidsstars folder - you will find lots of .txt files for each airport ICAO - open the one you are interested in seeing if it has the gate files, and you will see an entry inside the file for the gates - you can check then if its there and how its presented.

Excellent, that was the file I was looking for. Actually, I already used the taxiway symbology, just didn't know it. Whatever gate I loaded into FSX, I tried to find. Now I know where to look beforehand. Thanks, James

I have just departured from KORD, gate K 16 (Fs Dreamteam scenery). No way to fill the gate assignment. That field seems working 2 for 10. Is it due to Navdata lacks?

Yes. As far as I can tell there are no gate coordinates for KORD - at least not in cycle 1109.
Thanks, very bad. In Europe many terminal charts have the coordinates for every gate, while for the U.S. I cannot have that information :(

For those who have a bit of patience and a knowledge of LAT and LON coordinates, you can add the gates that you want to your PMDG aircraft by editing each airports file under the PMDG/SIDSTARS folder by adding lines below. Some will have gates already under the GATES heading and others will not have them at all. Add a new line for each gate as shown below and once you restart your FSX you will be able to get the correct gate coordinates into your FMC. You will have to use Google Maps to get the coordinates for each gate at your airport of choice and then convert them from decimal degrees to degrees and minutes accurate to 4 or 5 decimal places (see below).

I like to fly using the United livery so below are all the United gates at KLAX if you would like to add them.
