September 1, 201114 yr It's funny because New Yorkers generally don't talk that fast. As you said, maybe they get paid per word said. September 1, 201114 yr Ahh...thing's much slower paced in Canada...haha... Listen on 26.7 and you'll hear "meow" games all day. Pretty quiet. It gets crazy though in Quebec where you got ATC speaking French to one plane...English to another...Franglish to you...haha.... Patrick Houghton
September 2, 201114 yr Author Ara sure here now, have yee never heard JFK atc??? Not only do they have a ridiculously strong accents, but they speak as fast as humanly possible... Oh whatzitooyah? hehehe. There's this cool website, I can't remember its name right now, but you can hear ATC archives from JFK, and I happened to be listening in as my Dad's flight was departing...the copilot was doing the takeoff, it was his second trip on the 767 (oh lord ), so i heard my Dads voice on JFK ATC, kind neatAhh...thing's much slower paced in Canada...haha... September 2, 201114 yr oh wow. The forum troll. Boeing and Airbus are equal. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. End of discussion. Let's not turn this into an Airbus vs Boeing thread because quite frankly, Aerospatiale/BAC win with Concorde. Rockwell (now Boeing) built the Space Shuttle. Rockwell wins. September 2, 201114 yr Got handed off of NY APP this afternoon.I ended up requesting Text. That was super fast speech, make it worse he used breaks, and I often missed my turn for read back. It's my second week on VATSIM, and I'm sweating like a pig. What a contrast at Toronto, it's so nice there.

September 2, 201114 yr SR-71 wins. Hands down. Just for the fact it's faster than anything else. September 2, 201114 yr SR-71 is one of the best planes I have ever seen. In the group with Concorde and the 787. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
September 3, 201114 yr SR-71 wins. Hands down. Just for the fact it's faster than anything else. Except the NA X-15, which is in fact the record holder for an aircraft, at a little over four thousand five hundred miles per hour if I recall correctly, which is about twice the speed of an SR-71. But the fact that you could walk about in casual clothing drinking Champagne on Concorde instead of having to wear a space suit and drink water though a tube, as is the case for all those other aircraft, definitely makes Concorde the winner. Have a sit in the pilot's seat of Concorde if you get the chance, and you'll know it's true Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 3, 201114 yr Judge Concorde on its sales, its a faliure. they ended up nearly giving them away similar to what they are doing with the A380 just to a lesser extent (no, not trying to have a go at airbus fans). It is similar to the A380. A380 carries ridiculous amount of people. Concorde goes really fast. Neither really were a hands down success. I wonder how those proposals to get one Concorde flying again are going. Would be awesome but i doubt. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. September 3, 201114 yr Author Well, its expensive, getting an airworthiness certificate again is hard. I'm thinking if they do fly her again, they won't be able to take he supersonic (in legal terms of course). Inactive
September 3, 201114 yr Yes thats what the plan was I think. Just get her flying not to do supersonic, just fly. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

September 3, 201114 yr Judge Concorde on its sales, its a faliure. Yup, that's true, however, I was judging it on its technological achievement, and there's no way that could be regarded as a failure. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 3, 201114 yr Yup, that's true, however, I was judging it on its technological achievement, and there's no way that could be regarded as a failure. Al And 40 years later, we have yet to have a passenger jet go supersonic.Evolution.
