August 31, 201114 yr I've never flown a plane that had that "option." Just a bug, I think. Will probably get fixed. Tom Risager NGX tutorial: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=162360 SIDs & STARs Worked Examples: LOWI-UUDD, KSEA-KLAX, EKCH-ENGM, YSCB-YPAD
August 31, 201114 yr Author Cheers to All,I want to thank everybody for the input and helpful comments---I have learned quite a bit from these posts. I can see that there is a lot going on surrounding all these posts---and I can see that there is a bit of confusion surrounding the events and procedures used in a normal ILS approach.I am a real life Instrument Rated General Aviation Pilot and have flow thousands of ILS approaches in both my Mooney 20M and my Cessna ---I have been an avid flight simulator pilot since the early 1980's---and I am ashamed to admit that I have always been a bit fuzzy around the complete and truly proficient use of the electronic landing systems of the Boeing line of aircraft. That is why I have signed up for the full Angle of Attack training for the 737NG--this time I am going to know it in the fashion of a type rated line pilot.Again--thanks everybody--I am now off to begin the reading of my new $400.00 set of PMDG 737NG Training manuals whilst I await the first films from AOA. Cheers Dorn
August 31, 201114 yr Author A Quick Note to Ironmaiden: Hi, Yes all 737 pilots use the auto systems to fly the aircraft--that is how the aircraft is built to fly---I also use the auto pilot to fly my Cessna Turbo 210--it lessens the work load during actual IFR approaches --737 guys like to fly Visual approaches and hand fly when possible, but even hand flying in the modern era incorporates the use of automatic systems. Cheers Dorn
