New user question..problem

Featured Replies

I have owned the 737 for only 1 day, so I am still trying to learn how to fly it. I have been having problems occur while still in the programing of the compute, or doing the initial panel setups.. What happens is that sometime during the initialization of the plane, I notice that it shows "Simulation is Paused -Press P to continue". However, pressing "P" does NOT cause it to resume! I can still use the hat switch to view the panel, but nothing else works to get it out of the paused state. I can not switch views with the "S" key board button. I must exit FSX at this point. Is this the "panel freeze" I have read about? Is this what others see? Thanks,Jim I7 930GTX250 video8GB 1300 memory

Do you have a setting set to start flight paused? (Does other aircraft load paused when clicking Fly Now?)

I do not have anything set that would start in a paused state. Again, the plane starts OK, but after several minutes of setting up the flight, I find it is in the paused state. Then I find I can NOT get out of the paused state. Pressing the P key does nothing. I have not observed this failure with any other airplane. Is this different than the panel freeze reported by others?Jim

If the sim is pausing by itself, there must be another issue. Do you have a registered FSUIPC? What is the key command for pause sim in FSX settings (double check)

Normally what you described is what happens when the FSX window is currently not the active window, like when you ope a new folder or program after it.In this case only the hat works and fs pauses

Are you sure you are not describing the normal 20 second initialization of the aircraft?

Are you sure the NGX has been activated ? Were you asked for an activation number when you loaded it for the first time ??

OK, I have done a little more testing. What I was doing was swapping between the tutorial and the flight sim. Of course, each time I reentered the sim, it was in PAUSE mode, so I would press "P" to resume FSX. In addition, for the first time, I was using my PC keyboard to enter data into the scratch field of the CDU. So because I had never used my computer keyboard before to do this, I started the tutorial over, and only used my mouse to select the keys on the CDU. So far no more problems. I think it had something to do with my computer keyboard and trying to use it for input. Perhaps it has something with not clicking off the green box where you type into. Not sure at this point. I just know everything worked OK when not using the computer keyboard for input. Thanks, jim

Yep, I've made that mistake, as well. There are dozens more of these little gotchas waiting for you. But, when you've sorted most of them out, you will be amazed at how much you have learned. Good Luck
