Activesky 2004 - Does it work like it's supposed to?

Featured Replies

Hi Bill,I do have a limited experience with AS2004 as I've not fiddle around enough yet to explore its full potential, but I can assure you I've been astonished by the results! And it certainly will be the solution of choice to fully exploit the potential of the Reality XP Flight Line WX500 onboard radar!Hope this helps!

Damian,You are correct. The only time I go to the ActiveSky forum is when I have a problem. The problem is usually at install or very shortly after. Otherwise I peek to the forum every month or so. But I do regularly go to the HIFI site to check for novelties. And I am realy pleased with your product.Roger

To be honest i dont think default FS weather is that bad. FS2004 default weather is not perfect but then it was never going to be. Its virtually impossible and unprofitable to write a full weather simulator which does not contain a single bug or issue. This is Flight Simulator, not Weather Simulator. I think the aim is to produce weather which is reasonable realistic which i think it is. Yes, there are strange gusts and stuff and sudden visibility changes but its never going to be perfect in a

Don't think I am - to quote Pete's readme:"What you get if you pay:

I'm about to purchase AS2004, and regardless of the good/bad comments I always like to try these things anyway. I was a beta tester for the original AS and know full well the amount of time that Damian puts into these products.I also have FSMeteo (the latest version). I note that with FSMeteo that my computer goes into "slow motion" every time the a/c seems to move far away enough for the application to update the local wx stations (it seems to have a radius around the a/c that it applies local wx station data to). For that reason alone I use the FS9 real weather, which somehow appears to write to all wx stations globally without updating (this is the static wx)- or else somehow achives this without the frame-rate hit.Bruce.

Bill - If you've been following the forum you've missed the most important thing! The "update" currently being discussed is an alpha release. What you are "really" seeing here is discussions that belong in the beta forum but Damian has opened the discussion to the general public. I guarantee if you read the comments in the FS9 beta forum you would NEVER have bought the sim. Also, you are also just seeing the people who are reporting problems, with the aim of helping Damian to produce an exemplary product. I have little trouble with AS2004 - just don't feel the need to get on the forum and toot how great it is all the time, other than in comments like this.IMHO, you are missing one of the best add-on's I've seen in a long time.Vic
