September 27, 201114 yr Hi, when I installed the WoAI aircraft for the first time, the AI aircraft were invisible, only nav lights could be seen in flight. Then I found out that I should have de-selected "aircraft cast shadow on ground" and I had the airplanes back. Now, after a couple of months, I found out that again the AI airplanes are invisible (aircraft shadow still not selected), but only when they are airborne, on the ground they appear correctly! Further, if when they are airborne I approach them with the slew, until I keep at a certain distance they can be seen - although far and with livery not distinguishable - but when I get close they disappear.I hope someone can help me, I am driving crazy!Thank you! September 27, 201114 yr I had this issue once. I uninstalled WoAI and recently reinstalled it and everything works fine (so far). Try backing up the packages (using the "Expert" window), then uninstalling and reinstalling them (also using the "Expert" window). -Bram Osterhout
September 27, 201114 yr The other thing to check is whether you are running in DX10 preview mode. If you are try returning to DX9 mode. Mike Mann
September 27, 201114 yr Author No, no DX10 preview. I also tried to completely uninstall the packages and reinstall them, with no result. The strange thing is that when the airplanes are parked at the airports, everything is ok. As soon as they turn engines and lights on they disappear and only the lights remain on. They appear if I get far from them (only a white not detailed mipmap appears far away), so couldn't it be related to the mipmaps? But why the problem doesn't occur when the airplanes are parked? I am lost. James Goggi
September 28, 201114 yr Author Lately I have modified FSX.cfg for the blurries/fps problems, may it have something to do with it? Anyway I tried restoring an old cfg but no way. I also chenged a file in the Shade folder, that allowed me not to have black squares just before loading runways. Same trial with the old file, useless. Only a few days ago everything was ok with the AI airplanes! James Goggi
September 28, 201114 yr I experiance the same problem but only with GA AI. While parked I can see them, but anfter they start and taxi away, they disappear. I never figured out why. September 28, 201114 yr I had this problem too last time I installed WOAI, mid 2010, and never figured out why, until now. When I previously installed the WOAI packages, I mipmapped the external textures but I did it wrong and the end result was that the fuselage and wings became invisible. To get them to show, I had to add a white alpha layer, with one grey pixel in the top left corner, to each livery texture, before mipmapping it.The single grey pixel causes Imagetool to correctly mipmap the texture so that it will be visible in FSX. It's a few hours work but the end result is definitely worth it, no shimmering AI and better performance. September 28, 201114 yr Author I have found the culprit. I had made the change adviced by ******* on the file common.fxh (folder ShadersHLSL of FSX), modifying the dword string"dword State_TextureWrap : STATE_TEXTUREWRAP = D3DTADDRESS_WRAP"to"dword State_TextureWrap : STATE_TEXTUREWRAP = 0".This because I had the problem of the black squares appearing before loading the runway lights (VASI lights). With this trick the problem of the black squares was definitely gone (the VASI loaded instantaneously without any black square), but, on the other end, all AI aircraft disappeared just after starting pushback, when the lights were turned on.So I had to go back to the original Common.fxh, and I have to accept the black squares, even if they disappear quickly after increasing the TEXTURE_BANDWITH_MULT from 80 to 200. By the way, *******, if you are reading, do you know if there is a way to avoid the black squares and the AI disappearing at the same time? Thanks to all those replied. James Goggi
