September 28, 201114 yr Recently I reinstalled Win 7 and of course the reinstall of all my FSX files. Taking the advice I reinstalled FSX in separate file. The reinstall went fine, I had all my files backed up on external drive, but notice that it takes forever now to download files and I have now getting a stuttering issue on the screen. I have downloaded recent drivers for my ATI 5700 series and other optimizing solutions. I am curious is there something else I should do after the reinstall that I may have missed? September 28, 201114 yr Hello Richard,First I would defrag the drive that FSX is installed on,then apply the tweak in Bojote's automated FSX Tweaking & Tuning Service Jude Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. September 28, 201114 yr As long as it isn't an SSD hard drive, I'd try a defrag on it. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
September 28, 201114 yr Disk fragmentation will not cause stutters. Think hard, have you installed anything else lately? It could be the new drivers, antivirus, .cfg settings. What's different from before you had the stutters? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 28, 201114 yr Commercial Member Disk fragmentation will not cause stutters. That's wrong - in small doses it won't but if you have serious fragmentation it definitely can. If I recall FSX is quite fragmented when it's first installed. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

Stutters, I'll just take your word for it but I've never seen it. EDIT: With extreme fragmentation, I guess. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
September 29, 201114 yr Author OK I defragged - again. The stuttering is gone, but I have another question. I reinstalled FSX in a separate file instead of the usual path as suggested in the reinstall instruction on the PMDG support page. My question is the path to FSX is now different (I realize) but to use Bojote's automated FSX Tweaking & Tuning Service the line to get to the appdata doesn't work, what is my new line, ie %appdata etc.... If I am not making much sense please excuse me as I am dealing with a monumental collaspe of my Red Sox. Thanks for all your input. Richard Spencer Churchill PVT SEL GYSGT USMC (ret)

I have a SSD of 60 GB so the OS i will install in SSD drive. My question for you is regarding the PMDG products.......Did you active them without any problems? Have you observed some improvent in 737 ngx performance after reinstallation? Thanks for all your input. That's correct, fsx.cfg is in the appdata\roaming mentioned by *******' tool. Regardless of where you installed fsx, the fsx.cfg file will always be there.Edit: make sure you've enabled "show hidden files/folders" Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
September 29, 201114 yr Author Thanks Ken appreciate the info. Silvio no problem reinstalling the 737NGX, I cannot say whether my performance has improved till I address the issues the were caused by the reinstall of the Win 7. Especially the slowness and decrease of frame rates that were not present before the uniinstall. I'll keep you updated. Richard Spencer Churchill PVT SEL GYSGT USMC (ret)
