I can get this easily, with BOTH fail-pass and fail-op equipment options. Just use ISFD in all cases and fail it sometime during the flight. Yes, this is also how I understood it, messages ONLY for the fail-ops. But as I said, piece of cake to get them on the fail-pass as well. Oh and of course all post-HF4 observations. And no saved flight here, usually using the short-turnaround panel state when loading. But I don't reload in flight or so, I never do. BTW - more autoland concerns are over in that LAND 3 thread. I also posted a few more questions there - in short, NGX doesn't do independent FD operation during approach (both FCC should be on, indicated by two bright MA lights), and I thought autoland was not possible if you have limited electrical power sources, so I suspected to see some sort of "NO LAND 3" or "NO AUTOLAND" if operating on only one AC generator (and no APU). Still have to find reference in the docs though. Prolly do that 2morrow tho. sig.gif

Luke, What are you doing to get the NO LAND 3 message there? It shouldn't even be possible to see that without fail-op autoland enabled. Two questions: 1. Do you have the latest hotfix installed? 2. Are you loading from a saved flight during the approach phase or something like that?
Hi Ryan, I do have the lastest hotfix installed. I am loading from a saved flightplan but thats in the preflight while setting up the aircraft on the ground. That particular flight I changed ISFD to analog gauges in flight, while in cruise I set both Nav freq's to the respective ILS at mydestination and also prepared the CRS BUGS to the approach course. I also set HGS with the runway parameters. Its then when I got that msg on the upper EICAS as depicted in the screen shot. Thanks,

If I understand correctly, you'd have to have the ISFD to be able to have FAIL OP, hence LAND3, or am I getting it wrong?

Negative, failpass was always selected.

Whenever you simply select fail-op in the options, all the requirements will automatically be adjusted (Collins MCP, ISFD). Nothing to worry about. The other way round, if you kill one of the requirements, e. g. select the good ole Honeywell, fail-op will be disabled and you get an appropriate FMC message. sig.gif

I do get this message when loading from a saved flight, no matter which phase of flight. Even shortly after departure.Latest fix installed.
