John,NGXMCPEFIS_PP_202.SSI loaded into SIOC. FSUIPC.ini and sioc.ini checked. All relevant entries are as they should be.SIOC monitor shows all buttons and switches to be working on both MCP and EFIS. SIOC window shows FSUIPC connected.I went into SIOC and deleted all .ssi files and text relating to any MPC and EFIS just leaving NGXMCPEFIS_PP_202.ssi in case there were any conflicts.Still no joy. I have even tried connecting the modules to different powered USB hubs just in case. I have swapped the power supplies to both modules around in case there were issues there too but still I have no joy in getting either to work with NGX.

Some help for troubleshoting:What about your lua files for EFIS and MCP.Did they start?Check this in the fsuipc4.log file.If they start ,but closes immediately after start, you have fault in the LUA script. If they don't start you have not defined the LUA files under [AUTO] section in fsuipc.ini or you don't have them in your Modules folder. If they start and continue to go, you have wrong LUA scripts in the Modules folder. You can also monitor the fsuipc offsets 66D6- 66D7- 66D8-66D9 under logging in FSUIPC4 to see if sioc generated signal are catched up by fsuipc and luaThese offsets are for the VOR1- ADF1 and VOR2 and ADF2.If they ( offset) changes when toogling the swithces you have connection between sioc and fsuipc, if not your fsuipc and lua is not functioning.rgs Edited by roarkr

Roar (or others)Have tried to help gary tonight with getting the mcp and efis to work.Alas we have not been able to get it to work.We have used my working files to debug but even with my files we didn´t get it to work. What i can see is±Sioc is starting properly with no errors and sioc monitor shows all switches-dials and leds from mcp and efis workingMCP is device 0 on hwadres 53 (properly set in sioc.ini under masters)EFIS is device 1 on hwadres 55 (properly set in sioc.ini under masters)Have set fsuipc to log lua programming and keys and buttons and generated the following logs. Also included fsupic.ini so you can see the AUTO and Luafiles sections are oke.It looks like the LUA is properly kicking in but stops polling (at least that is my analysis).I really do not know how to trace this back to a cause but maybe you can understand why this is happening? The only difference there is now between his and mine config isHe is running VISTA/64 bit while i am running WIN7/64 bitHe has a E8500 with 8Gb of Ram where i have a i2500K with 8 Gb of RamCOuld it be we need to lower the loop timer for the E8500? (and if so what statement to adjust?)Please adviceOn behalf of Gary who is looking forward to using his MCP and EFIS also. :(

try changing the timer value in the last line of the lua. If it is 1000 this means it runs the loop every second. Now it is 100 I think. you could even set it to 10000 so you have time to do some toogling beore it hangs if tuat is the problemyou can also inhibit the mcp lua with an ! infront of the mcp line under Auto in fsuipc4.ini then you have temporary stopped the mcp lua from running to see if that is causing the problem if the efis then doesn't run do the same with the efis lua and start mcp again to see if it is efis that is the problemall this is just for debugging

Couple of things from the logs, for example********* LUA: "NGXEFIS_PP_202" Log [from FSUIPC version 4.758] ********* 125378 System time = 06/02/2012 14:48:36, Simulator time = 11:43:41 (11:43Z) 125378 LUA: beginning "C:FSXModulesNGXEFIS_PP_202.lua" 4504857 LUA: ended "C:FSXModulesNGXEFIS_PP_202.lua" 4504857 System time = 06/02/2012 16:01:36, Simulator time = 11:47:16 (11:47Z)********* LUA execution terminated: Log Closed *********Why is the difference between System time start and finish roughly 1:10 hrs whereas the Simulator time difference is like 3.5 minutes ? All the log entires are like this...From Gary's Fsuipc4.iniFSVersionUsed="Microsoft Flight Simulator X",10.0.61637.0whereas from mineFSVersionUsed="Microsoft Flight Simulator X",10.0.61472.0 which is FSX Gold Sp2Which flavor of FSX is your's Gary ?I have no idea what either of those things might mean ( other than, we're not using a saved flight with a simulation rate set to super slow are we ? ), they were just two anomolies I'd noticed.Good luckJohn

Gents,Thanks for getting back so quickly. I will try the changes you advise later once I have completed all the household tasks for the day.John, for your info, I am running FSX Gold with SP1 and Acceleration.

@RoarI have tried changinging the timer value to 1000 and 10000 - no change.I have tried putting ! infront of the MCP line and later in front of the EFIS line in [Auto] - no change@JohnNo, I am not using a saved flight or flight plan. The difference in the system time and the FS time are purely down to loading the NGX in the daylight hours whilst the system clock says it is night time. This morning I loaded the NGX at the same time as the system clock and there is no time difference in the NGXMCP_202.log (see below).********* LUA: "NGXMCP_202" Log [from FSUIPC version 4.758] ********* 124786 System time = 07/02/2012 10:59:29, Simulator time = 10:59:02 (10:59Z) 124786 LUA: beginning "C:FSXModulesNGXMCP_202.lua"I have downloaded the MCP test program from OpenCockpits to make sure the LED's and digits actually still work - they do and the encoders and button presses are registered too. I tried the test whilst FSX and NGX was running and it came up with FSUIPC status - OK.The extract from the FSUIPC4.log this morning (below) shows that FSUIPC appears to be trying to start the MCP and EFIS (highlighted in bold txt).********* FSUIPC4, Version 4.758 by Pete Dowson *********User Name="Gary Buss"User Addr="bussgarfield@FSUIPC4 Key is providedWideFS7 Key is providedRunning inside FSX on Windows VistaModule base=61000000 968 System time = 07/02/2012 10:57:26 968 FLT UNC path = "C:UsersAdministratorDocumentsFlight Simulator X Files" 1030 Trying to connect to SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 ... 1061 FS UNC path = "C:FSX" 1872 LogOptions=C0000000 00000001 1888 Wind smoothing fix is fully installed 1888 G3D.DLL fix attempt installed ok 1888 SimConnect_Open succeeded: waiting to check version okay 1888 Trying to use SimConnect Acc/SP2 Oct07 4025 Running in "Microsoft Flight Simulator X", Version: 10.0.61637.0 (SimConnect: 10.0.61259.0) 4025 Initialising SimConnect data requests now 4025 FSUIPC Menu entry added 4072 C:FSXFLIGHTSOTHERFLTSIM.FLT 4072 C:FSXSimObjectsAirplanesAircreation_582SLAircreation_582SL.AIR 19438 C:FSXSimObjectsAirplanesPMDG 737-800NGX WLB737-800WL.AIR 124052 System time = 07/02/2012 10:59:29, Simulator time = 10:59:01 (10:59Z) 124068 Aircraft="PMDG 737-800NGX PMDG House Winglets" 124723 Starting everything now ... 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=69990, Param=536870912 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=69990, Param=131072 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=69990, Param=-2147483648 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=69990, Param=524288 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=70000, Param=536870912 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=70000, Param=131072 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=70000, Param=-2147483648 124786 FS Control Sent: Ctrl=70000, Param=524288 124786 KEYDOWN: VK=54, Waiting=0, Repeat=N, Shifts=0 124786 .. hi,looking at the fsuipc4.log I can't see that the mcp and efis lua has started, but at the same time there are som fs controls sent from the lua scripts.it looks a little bit weird compared to my log file.have you uninstalled fsuipc4 lately and cleaned everything in the modules folder and reinstalled again?if not try that. and remember to write in the lua references again under fsuipc4.ini [Auto] section.

RoarI do not know if it helps but please find attached my fsuipc log from1. Startup without sioc2. Startup with siocWith regard to the second file the following info is relevantBefore starting sioc the console log window showed the messag Starting everything nowAfter starting sioc no additional messages showed up (the mcp lighted up but no response, which is correct as i start cold and dark)After switching on the battery the FS control sent messages came up in log including the advanced weather interface enabled messageAfter switching the apu power on the many key up key down message popped up.IN the bottom of the log the fs control sent: ctrl=70016, param=16384 came up on turning the speed diálthe fs control sent: control= 70032, param=8192 came up turning the altitude dialThe fs control sent: control=70010, pararm=131072 (and surronding messages) came up turning the efis vor2 switch and terr buttonAs you can see from this second log i also have the key up and down messages (don't know where they are coming from) but my mcp/efis is workingHope this helps in pinpointing the problem in Gary's config

Just as an aside to the topic in hand, I am feeling really chuffed with myself. I have just completed a flight from EGSS to LEAL having programmed the FMC and a fully automated landing which is a first for me.So, Roar.Uninstalled FSUIPC and cleared out the modules folder, re-installed FSUIPC and the lua files and put the lua references under AUTO in the FSUIPC.ini file.No change. We will get there - in the end.

Just another long shot Gary.Did you ever try with NO USB hubs, that is, with both devices plugged directly into motherboard USB ports even if only for testing?Hubs have been the problem for some people, me included. If you do try this, the only software thing you have to change is the Device numbering in SIOC.ini, changing USB ports changes the device ID windows gives it.John
