Hi 1. Is there a list of services you can deactivate in order to get a better performance for FSX? 2. No reboot after SP1 or even after FSX instalation makes a big difference? I forgot this step... 3. How do I know if I have libraries C++ installed? 4. It is said that you need to make an initial tuning of FSX before overclocking and the refinements after it. What means "initial tuning"? I did not make any changes to FSX.cfg until now and I am taking care of the overclocking... 5. Antialiasing: yes or no? Anisotropic filtering: yes or no? Bilinear, Trilinear? What do I need to set? I am using one GTX580 videocard. Thanks for your answers. harpsi

I have a 580 so on question #5 I use Nvidia Inspector to set Antialiasing at "32xS [Combined: 2x2 SS + 8x MS]" and "Override any application setting". Anti-ailiasing is ticked off in the sim. Anisotropic filtering at 16x in Nvidia Inspector and is also set to "Anisotropic" in the sim. You need to use something like Nvidia Inspector to unlock the card drivers (Override any application setting) or you won't be able to see any AA above 4x. I'm still not convinced that any of my settings are "the way to go" yet, I'm still fiddling around trying other settings, but so far this is what I've always come back to. I did my OC first and then did the Highmemfix and Bufferpools thing in the .cfg later, not necessarily because I knew what I was doing, however. The OC helped quite a lot but the cfg tweaks didn't change much from what I saw. Then again I probably didn't do it right. Jim

To shutdown unwanted services - download Ken Salter's "Alacrity". It comes preset with a gaming profile, then add what else you want killed. http://alacritypc.ke...m/download.html

Re anti-aliasing, 8XS or 8XSQ may be enough to give you the look you want withoutimpacting performance. Definitely use nvidia Inpector to set this, along with anisotropic 16X filtering, and Vsynch always On.
