October 10, 201114 yr Hi Is it normal that I have 2 fsx.cfgs? One is the actual one (or at least its seems so to me) and the other one is just a text file. I was wondering because I wanted to refresh the cfg and to use Bejote's tweak tool. Thanks i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB

October 10, 201114 yr It's normal. You can delete the text document if you want but I don't see why. It takes up little space and it will probably reappear someday. I'm surprised it's showing an extension (.cfg) though under Name. If you look at the dll.xml file just above your fsx.cfg, you'll see dll and then under type, it says XML extension. The same should have happened for your FSX.cfg. My active fsx.cfg just shows fsx with cfg under the type. You are also missing the exe.xml. Perhaps that's just installed with the DreamTeam scenery... Best regards,Jim

October 10, 201114 yr OK! Don't think the "i'm not worthy" smiley was necessary. I answered your question, did i not. October 11, 201114 yr Author Don't think the "i'm not worthy" smiley was necessary. I answered your question, did i not. Well yes, but I use it as a "You're a God" sort of thing, lol. But thanks for the reply i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
October 11, 201114 yr Moderator The real story with having an fsx.cfg.txt file is that it is NOT normal. Under regular circumstances you should not have one ending in .txt. The way that you acquire one ending in .txt is when you have an error in the sim and/or the sim closes or crashes due to a problem.Like was mentioned, you can delete the .txt but if you get one again then its an indication that somethings wrong. But the thing is, inside it, it was just another fsx.cfg. Like a copy, not a debug or anything. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
October 11, 201114 yr It's exactly what Jim said, but do yourself a favor, run FS to be sure no errors popup, then save a copy of the fsx.cfg in another folder. If you ever have a problem that requires rebuilding the .cfg you will save yourself a lot of setup time, just pop the copy back in. I save a copy everytime I make a change to FSX. Jay

It did the same things as if I just installed the game, you know, asking me about key mappings, asking if my addons are "trusted", etc. I didn't come across any problems, and using Bejote's tool, I get much higher frames now. Thanks. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
