October 12, 201114 yr This might be a dumb question, but i was reading somewere that if you have an abundance of system ram, you can use an adjustment feature in the bios to actually convert some system ram to vram by adjusting the AGP Aperture to increase video performance. Anybody heard of this? Rick Hobbs

Anybody heard of this?Possibly in other scenarios, but not fsx, not with the way it's so memory hungry. The only time that might help is with 512mb VRAM or less, and a 512mb card is probably slow enough that it wouldn't help much. Better to spend $249 on a 560ti & call it a day. October 12, 201114 yr AGP aperture is for AGP cards. We're in the 21st century already guys! You never know. With the size cards that would be useful for, it'd probably still apply. Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
October 12, 201114 yr No problems at all with the evga gtx580 DS 1.5G running 275.33. Great performance, no freezes at all in any game. For me the most stable card ever. I haven't seen a lot of price variation yet on this one -- currently it's selling for around $490. I snagged one from New Egg for my new build back in July for $459 (with $20 evga rebate). They're pricey but, to put it in perspective, it cost only $30 more than the gtx285 I bought for my MacPro just a couple of years ago. Technology marches on. - Jev McKee, AVSIM member since 2006.
