October 20, 201114 yr PMDG MD-11 folks: I've searched a bit and can't seem to find anything on this subject in the forums but my database is showing "NOT_VALID" under the A/C STATUS page. I can't load any waypoints, flight plan information, etc... I recently had an error in MSFS9 that forced me to reinstall the program. Fortuantely, I had MOST of my MSFS9 files backed up on an external hard drive so I just copied those files over once the reinstall was complete. Could this be the cause of the database error? If it is, would y'all know how I can fix it? I was just thinking I should reinstall the MD-11 all over again but it doesn't look like I'm allowed to download the .exe from PMDG to try this. Can anyone help with this perplexing problem? Thanks in advance! Russ
October 20, 201114 yr Copying program files is usually a problem because the windows registry is then likely to have errors. If your FS9 is working, I recommend running the pmdg installer and selecting repair. You may also wish to update your navdata. Under the circumstances, I'm not sure what will happen to your liveries. These are dependent on both cfg files and the registry. Dan Downs KCRP
October 21, 201114 yr Author Dan, where would I find this installer? I'd like to do this and I'm not worried about the liveries...that's easy to fix.
October 21, 201114 yr Dan, where would I find this installer? I'd like to do this and I'm not worried about the liveries...that's easy to fix. The installer is the original file that you downloaded from PMDG. If you do not have it you will have to buy the extended download service from PMDG - I suggest putting in a trouble ticket and having a chat with them. DJ
October 21, 201114 yr Author Well, that's a bummer. You'd think they'd just resend the .exe since I already dropped the cash on it. Hopefully I'll hear something from the trouble ticket I put in yesterday. Thanks for the help...
October 22, 201114 yr The extended download option is only a few bucks. Also, it is highly recommended that you backup all downloaded programs. Dan Downs KCRP
October 23, 201114 yr Well, that's a bummer. You'd think they'd just resend the .exe since I already dropped the cash on it. Hopefully I'll hear something from the trouble ticket I put in yesterday. October 23, 201114 yr Author I dropped the cash on the extended download service since I didn't have the original .exe from months ago. While I'm really kind of ticked off that it wasn't enough that I dropped $80 on the MD-11 to begin with months ago but also had to give up another $5 for an "extended download" service, I'm happy to have the original file back up and running on my machine. Lesson learned: keep the .exe's on an external hard drive so when Microsoft products do their thing and dump everything, you have some measure of recovery.
October 24, 201114 yr I recommend burning them to a CDROM..., after a while the downloads get very numerous and hard to keep track of. Dan Downs KCRP
