November 10, 201114 yr Hi,I urgently need your help folks,Getting error messages constantly when trying to run any programs. It only started today, but restoring to an earlier time or even going with the backup made no difference. Makes FSX impossible to fly with the interuptions. It says:C:Windowssystem32sfc.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the progrm again using the original installation media or contact your system administer or software vendor for support. Says the same thing about C:/Windows/SysWow64/sfc.dll. The computer is almost unusable with all of this.Obviously there is major corruption of the windows program. Is there a way to have the original disk do a repair instead of an install? It even kicked back when I tried to reinstall windows by keeping my original settings. Said that it was unable to complete the install because the present install is newer than the the installed version. Besides, during all of this there was so many error messages I could hardly navigate on the screen.Haven't ever seen anything like this before. What do you suggest?Kind regards,

All rights reserved.Scans the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrectversions with correct Microsoft versions. Now the question is can it replace itself?, best way to find out is to run it.From an elevated cmd prompt type sfc /? for usage instructions. To run it and scan for damaged system files type sfc /scannowThere is some info here from microsoft on the correct way to run SFChttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833You can do an in-place repair using your W7 DVD, with your bios set to boot from DVD as its first option , place your W7 DVD in the drive, reboot and you will come to the install screen which also has the option to Repair install. There are instructions on how to proceed here:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.htmlGood luck
November 10, 201114 yr I recently worked on a Vista installation with what might have been a similar problem. In this case, operating files were corrupted, no doubt, by a virus. So many errors came up that nothing opened. Nothing ran. From the cmd prompt I ran "sfc /scannow", and that made it so that I could at least run some diagnostics.Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
November 10, 201114 yr Stephen:Are you sure you are not infected with a virus or malware? The internet universe is loaded with bad stuff. If you suspect an infection, I would run all the anti-malware and anti-virus stuff you got.Airbus Al Kaupa Digital Storm purchased 8/17/2011; Win7x64: Asus P8P67 Deluxe; Intel i7 2600K@3,9 GHZ; nVidia GTX 560Ti; 8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Dominator; Power Corsair HX 750W; Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD; 300GB WD VelociRaptor; 1TB Seagate.
November 10, 201114 yr Author Thank you guys,It never rains unless it pours, and murphy's law applies. With my luck I am very glad I am not flying real metal over real people today. In the very last stage of using the install disk to repair windows, after all the backups, gathering information and settings, with 4 green checkmarks, and on the last thing for it to do, the power went off, just for a a second or two. Of course it wiped out all the repairs, along with everything else. It was impossible to go forward, or go back, but went into an endless restart cycle Windows had an unexpected loss of power... restarting to continue setting up... restart... windows had an unexpected loss of power ...etc. It was enough to make a grown man cry!I have once more, under duress, reinstalled windows from scratch, and I suppose I am going to have to do the same for FSX, although it is on a separate harddrive, unless there is a way around that. What a mess! I wonder how often I have had to reinstall either fs9 or fsx? I bet it is several dozen times, like a solid month of 24 hours reloading cut out of my life! Of course in the real world if I had this many crashes and was still walking around they would not allow me within a mile of an airplane, any airplane, even as a passenger. scheeech!Kind regards,
