November 22, 201114 yr Hello,Do any of you think it would be worth it to buy a HD 1080p monitor for FSX. Right now I am running an Acer 22" from 3 years ago with DVI input. The monitor works fine but I am itching for a 24" ASUS in 1080p. Would I see any real visual difference? Thanks Marc Lynn
November 22, 201114 yr You surely would but don't forget to get the HD lead to connect it. Normally it is an extra. Dave Taylor
November 22, 201114 yr From what I've seen, it's all in the response time. Absolutely no more than 5ms, even less is much better. Currently using a Viewsonic 27" with a 1ms response time. Great picture, no flashing at all.
November 22, 201114 yr It depends on the resolution of your current monitor! Most PC widescreen monitors have a 1680x1050 resolutionHDTV screens typically have 1920x1080These are very close and you would hardly tell a difference, except for the fact that TV screens are typically 40-50 inches, not 24.. November 22, 201114 yr Moderator look at the HannsG 28" - it is superb and the prices are pretty good. I have two and haven't had a dead pixel yet. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
November 22, 201114 yr Author My current monitor is 22", 5ms with DVI input at 1680x1050. It looks good and my computer can pull it. The only weakness is my GTX 460 card and I am wondering if I would need to upgrade that to pull a 24" HD monitor and using all available resolution, I think I would. From what I understand the response time reduces ghosting and this might be a bigger deal in a first person shooter than in a flight simulator flying at 35,000. Does a low response time improve the static image in any way?I am kind of ignorant about monitors but what is the visual difference with standard resolution 1680x1050 versus HD, 1080p. Is it just the availability of higher screen resolution you get like 1920x1080 or higher or does HD do some fancy stuff with the pixels and other visual impacts. This would be specifically for FSX and I am trying to justify the expenditure especially since I may need to shell out $400 or so for a GTX 570 to pull it.Thanks allot Marc Lynn
