December 9, 201114 yr I've been flying the 737 NGX around for quite some time now and my favorite bird remains the PMDG 747x.The 737 NGX's simulation of avionics is accurate, the VC is superb, sounds are amazing but I can't feel the airplane. With the 747 I can feel the inertia and I love to operate the rudder to maneuver her swift, a gentle flare is a piece of cake. With the 737 there seems to be no need for the rudder besides the takeoff roll and to straighten out a crosswind landing.Especially rudder inputs seem to provoke an exagerated immediate and linear response of the airplane, it stays in an almost continuous slip that feels odd.Inputs to the flight controls lack somewhat a delay to reach their full effect.I am convinced the airplane will fly according to boeing specifications in every attitude but I am not convinced with what it does during an attitude change.I've never flown a real 737 and therefore it's all subjective. I just wanted to know if there's someone out there that feels the same, or if a real 737 pilot could concur with this is how a 737 truly "feels".Regards,Markus

December 9, 201114 yr Indeed, every Flight Crew Member I talked to, that has the NGX, says it's about as close as you'll ever get without going to a Level-D Sim.I must say.... I concur with them. Name available upon request
December 9, 201114 yr Some weeks ago I was talking with my former fly instructor. Now has got his first job for an airline and got this 737-800 type rating this summer. When I asked for how she flyes he stated that one of the main diferences with G.A. airplanes is that you never use the rudder on the approach or during flight. Just let the yaw damper do his work and align on final with roll. This is the oposite that he teached me when flying the Cessna, were you normally use the rudder a lot on final. So basically rudder is only used to keep centerline during take-off and roll out and decrab on crosswind.Regards!
December 9, 201114 yr So basically rudder is only used to keep centerline during take-off and roll out and decrab on crosswind. You left out a big one, engine out operations.

I had the same feeling when I got the NGX as you describe, so I started to look for solutions & discovered axis assigning via FSUIPC....it makes a big difference not only for the NGX but for all FSX planes:)) Kind regardsR.G

Since I got FSUIPC I can't fly without it anymore! Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!

December 9, 201114 yr yes I think I have them at "send direct to fsuipc calibration" , what's your config?Yes I have "send direct to fsuipc calibration" as well....& for all NGXs "aircraft specific" with elevator "slope" to -3. Kind regardsR.G
December 9, 201114 yr You left out a big one, engine out operations.Yes. I was just thinking about normal operation.Of course rudder is totally needed on engine out situations.
December 9, 201114 yr I must agree with many here. Until i set my controls up with FSUIPC, i had all kinds of problems with my CH stuff having very 'Jerky' like action which was particularly difficult when trying to lift that nose just a tad on flare and ending up floating half way down the runway. December 9, 201114 yr Author Yes I have "send direct to fsuipc calibration" as well....& for all NGXs "aircraft specific" with elevator "slope" to -3.Could you or anyone else try the following.Take the 747x for a flight, trim her level. Watch the altimeter and pull back on your controls, the airplane will dip, rest and then rise. The 737ngx will climb almost immediately.orapply full rudder on the 747 and keep the wings leveled with the ailerons, the 747 will turn, the 737 almost not.

I hope not at RPR (rudder pressure reducer) speeds. Regards Andrea Daviero
December 12, 201114 yr Author Are you sure 747 is more accurate than NGX?Are you sure that a 737 must have the same dynamics than a biiiiiig 747?At wat speed do you tested them? I hope not at RPR (rudder pressure reducer) speeds.I have not flown a real 747 either. I just prefer how it reacts to control inputs, short but decisive inputs and she maneuvers accurately.I know the 747 is way bigger and weights a lot more, but that doesn't make the 737 a paper plane. She definitely lacks some sort of inertia and/or the effect of flexing wings. I've watched a video today of somebody practicing touch&go's on a 737, the control inputs I've seen during the flare are how I'd expect them to be right. Doing these on the pmdg 737 would make her hover down the runway
December 12, 201114 yr As a real world pilot, I can attest to the incredible hand flying characteristics of this software. Never seen anything like it for a home Sim.
