Question about electrics

Featured Replies

Hi,I noticed something I can't explain. Hopefully someone here can! rolleyes.gifDuring normal operation the electric panel shows approximately 45Amps on both sides (both engines running, IFDG's feeding bus 1&2).But when I start the APU and using solely APU power for both buses it shows only something like 52Amps.So the question is: Where did ~38Amps go??I'm very curious for the answer!Best regards,

Daniel Verhaal

Voltage being the same... I have to wonder. Load shedding?

looked it up:APU delivers 90kVA up to 37.000" which should be more than enough to supply power without load shedding. So why we see only 52Amp?

Daniel Verhaal

Load shed is always enabled if the APU is the only source of power in flight, galley power will be shed. Try to turn galley/util power on and off to see if values are correct. This is called configuration load shedEach IDG on the plane can supply the same KVA of the APU starter generator.

Not having it in front of me at this moment, is the display showing Amps provided, or Amp draw?

Thank you Andrea, it is exactly the amount the CAB/UTIL bus is using.Something learned today!Regards,

The display shows the apms currently draw by the systems for each source selected.
