Max Sandybridge voltage?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,I am getting a my new setup in a week or so....Just some preliminary thoughts,-What is the max safe voltage that I can push my 2700k to? (I am purchasing a Corsair H100)-What are considered "safe" temperatures for the Sandybridge setup? (I have bloomfield)-Besides upping up the CPU multiplier and CPU voltage, what else will be neccesary? All I want is a CPU @ 5GHZ.**PLEASE LOOK AT MY SIG FOR SPECS**Thanks,

I wouldn't exceed 1.40v and 75C or 80C while running prime95.

The other night I mucked up and set offset to +.50 (meant to set .050).... Needless to say, I scared the hell out of myself when windows loading failed and I saw the BIOS' voltage reading. Somewhere around 1.85V. She still works correctly, as far as I know, but I kicked myself.I'm with Corey. My personal max is 1.40V. My 24/7 setting is 1.33V.

Normally 1.4 would be my limit but as Ivy is near I'm tempted with 1.45 for 5Ghz stable (HT off). Having said that, my rule of thumb is 1 fps improvement per 300Mhz so it hardly seems worth bothering...

Mine is at 1.415. 103 x 48. 4.89ghz. Full power 58c with Corsair H70http://hardforum.com...d.php?t=1578110
"Full Power" @ 58c?Is that with stress testing? I would be highly skeptical of that temp at that voltage if it is under stress testing.........

Lol. I think he's the same one that claimed the same speeds at 1.28V or something a while back.

At 5.0Ghz my voltage is now set at 1.475v for extreme FSX. In normal operations, which is for everything else it is run at 4.6Ghz at 1.35v or thereabouts. Both settings are stable at those power levels. Temperatures never exceed the mid sixties as my case and heatsink are over fanned.http://forum.avsim.n...ost__p__1929911I think these numbers are safe as long as heat is controlled.Kind regards,

Stephen, I'd be interest if someone could quantify the performance difference between 4.5GHz and 5.0GHz in FSX. I run my rig 24/7 at 4.5GHz and +.020 Offset (which gives me 1.31V and 68C under Prime). That seems to keep things cool and fast.

+Your skeptisism is noted but unfounded! Thats running FSX for 24hs. I'm not playing "Stress test"!.. Prime 95 will get it to 70 dgrees is the highest ive seen in 10hrs. using speed fan. Fans full speed. No woosey worring about fan noise here!. Room temp 66 degrees yr around. People dont realise the difference that makes! The difference cooling capability of 66 degree air compared to 80 degree air. U sually need to keep window open in winter as computers will heat the room!temprr.jpg
Well that makes more sense. Most people would be getting that temp range with FSX only!Im afraid you need to state more clearly as temps are quoted 99% of the time under prime 95 load on all four cores, not in FSX.

I have read, dont know if its true and their is too many factors to verify it, I believe it was 300mhz=1 fps?
Then that would be TOTALLY unfactual.3FPS per gigahert? I think not....

Idk. As far as lowest FPS goes, that seems about right. Maybe closer to 2FPS per 300MHz.

Maybe closer but THREE FRAMES per gigahert is way off.... I can see a HUGE difference from 3.5 and 4.8

What are ya running?
Specs in signature....Also, I meant to type 3.5 -->4.8 not 4.5.... Sry about that
