Trees! Maybe I am going to love Flight...!

Featured Replies

I just LOVE extremely dense autogen, specially trees. That's why I hardly ever leave PNW: even other Orbx regions don't do it for me (all those barren mountains...). I just read in an editorial article the following:"You can see for miles and the trees are fully populated as far as you can see. In past games, the trees were added when they came within a certain range, creating a popping effect that was jarring and completely unrealistic to gamers. Now the visuals are much better."Maybe I am going to LOVE Flight...! ^_^What I mean to say is: don't get too ###### (or too excited) before you've actually tried the FREE (!!!) version. :( My first reaction was 'Bummer' but now I am reading more and more things about Flight, well... it might become nicer then we all think!

Yeah have fun with default scenery trees as Flight will not support any third party addons :)

I love those massive trees too!! :(

LOL I am reading lots of topics and while almost everyone is sad or angry, I am getting more and more excited about Flight. :( Not that I WANTED it to only contain Hawaii and one (weird) GA for starters, but I like what I read about the graphics and possibilities. After my initial disappointment, I am getting more and more excited. Let's not forget that we still can fly in FSX to satisfy needs that Flight doesn't fullfill!

Thanks for the positive note Jeroen. Much appreciated!

Cheers, Bert

Maybe the engine is a real good base engine, and 3rd party can release aircraft and scenery in their market.

You're welcome. :wink:I have to say that while I expected various reactions, I am also a bit surprised. Do all you (in general) guys and gals really think MS would have started working on Flight without thinking about it...? It seems that 99% of the posts today are from people who hate MS for creating a stupid game that offers us nothing but crap... Well, I haven't seen the game yet and I am reading things about it that I like. Ok, I am also reading things I do NOT like, but that's not the point. I think that posting NOW already that Flight is sure to be a fail is a bit er... too soon. The MS guys aren't stupid. Don't forget that just maybe there aren't that much die hard simmers out there as we like to think! Maybe Flight will be a fail for you but that doesn't mean it will be a fail for everyone. How big is the FSX simming market anyway...? Whenever I am somewhere where some simmers are showing off FSX I am amazed at the amount of people that don't have it while they still are interested in flying. Offering the basic game for free is a very clever idea for sure! That will certainly help to get more people flying virtually. The fact that there isn't a PMDG 737NGX-like plane in Flight (not right away at least) is of course sad for serious simmers, but I know that for instance a lot of the Orbx fans like to fly low and slow above great looking scenery.... and Flight might be perfect for those type of flyers. Scenery is extremely popular! I LOVE good scenery!I am even thinking about getting into the beta after all. :(

"The game will feature it’s own marketplace, with content regulated by Microsoft. There will be no scenery development kit and hence no user created content. The Live marketplace allows for constant content flow and users that opt-in to share data, allow the team to react to user behaviors to improve the game and add more of what users want. It also allows for quicker response to user requests, fixes and general improvements. On top of that, integration with the Microsoft Flight® website offers a more direct link between team and users."Nope, it does not support 3rd parties. M$ wants all your money!

Let's also not forget, FSX has more bugs than the Amazon Rainforest, one could consider themselves lucky if they complete a flight without a a fatal error occurring, a bug, glitch, or down right blue screen.

I agree. After several reinstallations and removing Uiautomationcore files it usually does not crash with most addons. But non modified install of FSX to win7 with Uiautomationcore files and no fixes = 100% sure crash.

And also not forget the amount of time we spent on tweaking everywhere inside out just to make it flyable?!, well certainly not crashing when doing right-click.

Well yeah I found it out too, but on one of the threads someone with more information told us that Microsoft had been in contact with some addon developer, but percentage of money got with that dev itself would get from making addon for Flight was too low so they did not make a deal. I dont see why any developer would want to make addon for Flight when M$ takes big part of money from them when they can make addon for FSX or X plane 10 and keep all money themselves. Also of course M$ will not allow any outside devs to make freeware...

Well maybe you are lucky then. Do you have Win 7 32 bit or 64 bit, I forgot to mention that im talking about 64 bit version...Anyways me and LOTS of other users do have those problems.
